Mother’s Day is around the corner, and I’ve rounded up some unique gifts to give, or get (sometimes Dads need a little hint) for that special person in your life. Now, don’t wait, if you are planning to have items shipped, or flowers delivered, you need to get on it this week to avoid higher shipping costs! Most of these gifts are ones that you won’t see everywhere, some from local talent – right here in my own backyard. I’ve personally viewed each one, and have some exclusive offer codes for AskSuzanneBell readers; let’s take a look!
Heart of Gold Wallet
Last week, I had the pleasure to view the latest designs by Linda Cecil, owner and designer of Young Villagers. Young Villagers offers genuine leather handbags and wallets that are unique, chic, tasteful and appeal to any fashion preference, in any age group. Certain styles can even be custom ordered in your favorite colors. Put your money in your heart and grab and go with the Heart of Gold Wallet!
This 2-tone genuine leather wallet is specifically designed for the people who work hard for their money and have a busy life. If you need to run out in a hurry, and don’t want to carry much, this is the wallet for you. With the added wristband, you can just grab this wallet and have everything you need, without taking your over loaded purse. There is a heart pocket outside of the wallet to store your coins. Plenty of slots inside for your credit cards, IDs, and paper bills, even your check book. The zippers are decorated with a little gold heart for pulling easily. This is a great little companion for us busy Moms! Available in Black/White or Red/Pink | $89.00 (plus 20% off for AskSuzanneBell readers makes it $71.20)| This item is available for special order, in other colors for an additional $10. Details and for the full selection of styles available go to www.youngvillagers.com.
While visiting with Linda, my pal Amy ( she owns 2 of Linda’s bags) and I tried on a few of my favorites for you to take a look! What Mom would not love one of these gorgeous bags? The quality is amazing, and I love the functionality (Linda thinks of everything!) of each of her pieces.

Teapot Flower Arrangement
Mom’s love flowers, and this particular arrangement from Fleur d’Alice is very special. Alice Cox is a talented mom, who happens to love floral design. My husband ordered a Fleur d’Alice arrangement for my daughter and I for Valentines Day – it was so beautiful I kept it as my iPhone screen saver for months (the photo at bottom right corner)!
For this Mother’s Day, Alice drew inspiration from her own mom who is quintessentially Irish. She likes simple things, such as tea and pink carnations. In honor of her mother, Bonnie Ryan, the Mother’s Day bouquet will be pink roses, pink tulips, pint Gerbera daisies, and pink carnations with pink wax flower and alstroemerias all arranged in a single serving white teapot.
The teapot can be used again and again. The arrangement with teapot and lid as shown is $35.00 | delivery within Los Altos included. Outside of Los Altos, orders can be picked up – details on Fleur d’Alice. For deadlines (coming up!), how to order and more details can be found on www.FleurdAlice.com
ART & SOLE
by Jane Gershon Weitzman
I recently had the opportunity to view this unique gift book, in the company of fellow blogger, Freya Hooper of One Great Book. The perfect little coffee table book for shoe and art lovers alike, it contains more than 150 Fantasy Art Shoes, from the Stuart Weitzman Collection.
When Stuart Weitzman opened its first boutique on Madison Avenue, its displays of specially commissioned fantasy art shoes quickly became a destination, drawing crowds from all over the world to its magical windows. The best of this carefully curated collection is on display in book form for the first time in this unique gift volume. Freya recently caught up with Mrs. Weitzman, and her interview is NOW LIVE on One Great Book for readers to enjoy! Links on where to buy Art & Sole along with Freya’s interview with Jane Weitzman can be found 4/29 on www.onegreatbook.blogspot.com. | $30.00
Origami Owl was founded by Bella Weems, when she was 14. Wanting to purchase a car, with $350 and her family’s support, she started selling lockets to friends, and family after school – that is when the story of the Living Locket began. Customizable jewelry – the possibilities are endless! I had a chance to view the line with friend, and Origami Owl Independent Designer Dia Mundle.
Dia met Bella when she was just getting started in Chandler, AZ where Bella was a student in the school district Dia worked in. At the time, Bella was a sophomore. She is now a freshman at BYU – a very talented young lady! A few of my favorites are the lanyard (for those of you who wear a lanyard for work, you know that they are not exactly a fashion statement!), the locket and wrap bracelet. I also love the packaging (a fortune cookie in a take out box)! Want to read more? Pop on over to diamond.origamiowl.com for details! Free Mother’s Day gift ($59.00 value) with any $79.00 purchase now thru May 31st while supplies last. Cut-off date for standard shipping in time for Mother’s Day is May 2nd, details on www.diamond.origamiowl.com
A waterproof ballet flat
Co-founders Stacey and Amber recently started Mox Shoes USA because they fell in love with Mox from the minute Stacey was given them as a present from an Australian friend. Stacey is from Australia so every visit her Mom would bring over a few pairs. People started stopping them and asking about their shoes. After discussing it, Stacey and Amber approached the Australian company, started by a stay at home mom there and a friend of a friend of Stacey’s, about distributing in the US. After a lot of back and forth, they are now the sole distributors in North America. These shoes have only been available in the US for a month or so, be one of the first to snag a pair!
Recently reviewed by Aussie (now US) blogger Melissa Menzies over at YummoMummo, here is what she had to say about MOX. “Originating from Australia (makes me especially proud to be Aussie), these basket-weaved ballet flats are 100% man-made rubber that mold to your feet for pure comfort. It doesn’t matter the shape of your foot, Mox Shoes can work for anyone.” To read more on Melissa’s recent review on MoxShoes, pop on over to YummoMummo.blogspot.com.
I was gifted a pair of MOX in the Latte color (top left) and I have to say, they are pretty fab! And can we talk about the cute market bag the arrive in? (it’s the mesh bag filled with lemons in photo top right) At $39.99 they are a fun gift, one to give/one to get! I have been wearing mine around, even to walk my dog and I love how there is a bit of arch and heel support. Note; when ordering, AU sizing is a bit different, there is a size chart on the Moxshoes.com site. I followed the guide and my fit perfectly (US 8.5/AU40) My daughter thought they were pretty great as well and can’t wait to get a pair of her own.
