Today I am wearing the Aristea Embroidered Top c/o Melange Style, a fabulous boutique located right here in Palo Alto, CA. This classic, timeless top has hand embroidery of over 88 hours and bell sleeves. And like all of Chandan Allen’s designs, this piece was created in California and hand crafted in her family run factory in Mumbai, India.
I had the pleasure of meeting Chandan last March, one week before the first Pandemic lockdown. As we casually sipped our Starbucks while previewing her latest line, I never imagined it would be a year before I’d be sharing my experience from that day.
I was invited by Chandan to visit her Palo Alto boutique and learn about Melange Custom Luxury: a program designed to create perfectly proportioned collections for women of all sizes to express their own unique style with confidence. Your style, Your size. You read that right, at Melange Style, Chandan can create and customize any style from her collection, to fit YOUR unique body type. How fabulous is that?
I hope you stop back this coming Saturday when I’ll be sharing my personal experience with the Melange Custom Luxury program, as well a look at how I styled the dress Chandan customized, based on my specifications.
Somedays, especially in these challenging times, we need a little kick in our style to feel our best self; and that’s when color comes into play. I love how the gorgeous color of the Aristea Embroidered Top, breathes life into an otherwise neutral outfit of denim, and neutral accessories.
How comfortable are you with wearing color? Adding a pop of color, shine, sparkle, feathers, faux fur, or an unexpected print is a simple way to breathe life to any outfit. Andy – Pearls and Pantsuits
Like most of my Stylish Monday sisters, I LOVE color and am not ashamed to wear it, and just adding a pop of color to an otherwise neutral palette is a fun little trick to add to your repertoire if you’re not comfortable with wearing too much color. Pop on over to my blog for a peek at today’s outfit, and more style tip for adding pops of color to your wardrobe.
Nina – Sharing a Journey
We rightly think a pop of color on a neutral background adds interest, drama and elevates an outfit. Well, today I’m the pop of color. I just couldn’t resist a bright spring dress to blast us out of the doldrums!
Amy – Amy’s Creative Pursuits
What’s better to wear for a color challenge than a “Colorblock Sweater”? I added even more pop of color with a bright bag!
Nancy – Nancy’s Fashion Style
I love lilac! But the color doesn’t look good, up close to my face. This skirt was actually a bit to tight and I sold it. But the color and the fabric, it looked a bit like tweed, were fabulous. I like to wear lilac with purple, or with pink , or like here with orange. I am on the hunt for a new, or pre loved, lilac skirt! One that fits!
Shelbee – Shelbee on the Edge
Green is my forever favorite color and the month of March really makes me want to wear all of the green things as I impatiently await the arrival of Spring. This outfit has a few more layers to beat the Winter chill and another print to create extra interest. Won’t you stop by to see more of this outfit and how it came to be!
Nicole – High Latitude Style
Seven months of snow means white and black everywhere. Occasionally, a hint of yellow. The sky is either dark with white pin dots and green stripes, gray with white polka dots, pink or orange, or steel blue (my favorite). Not much color. Thus, in the cold season you have hunger for color. So even though red adds a lot of weight (not actually, but it gives the illusion of being heavy), it’s one of my weapons to fight the winter blues.
Ada – Elegance and Mommyhood
Green is one of my favorite bright colors, especially Kelly Green. It’s also one of the most popular Pantone Colors of 2021. I wore this cute outfit today on a 47° sunny day (it felt warmer than that) and my beautiful daughter took these photos. I decided to pair this Kelly Green Eyelet Blouse by J. Crew with these Olive Green Skinny Jeans by Old Navy. Even my net socks are green (and black). They look great under the peep-toe booties.

My neon pink cardigan was thrifted, and are styled with Camo joggers. I paired the outfit with a zebra print tote.
Emma – The Style Splash
I adore bright colours, especially orange! Wearing bright orange always makes me feel happy, energetic and optimistic. I’m a big believer in colour therapy!
Julie – Fashion Trends and Friends and Instagram FashionTandF
Color makes me happy, especially bold bright color! However, today I’m sharing how you can easily add touches of color to pop an otherwise monochromatic look if color isn’t your thing! What color would you pair with gray? Stop by my blog to see the colors I added to one outfit!

Hi Lovely! Thank you for stopping by the link up party. This top is so special. And the color and embroidery was exactly what I was drawn to. Pretty much anything I pair this top with is elevated and fun.

That top is so pretty. Not many people nowadays have ever had the experience of having clothing custom made so that must have been quite a unique process to go through.

Hi Rena! Thank you for stopping by. You are so correct, and that is what makes this boutique so unique. I’ll be sharing more on Melange this coming Saturday, but basically what happens is you go into the boutique and select an item you love off the rack. Then, this is where the magic happens. You work with your salesperson on what you would like to be different…ie: neckline, length, sleeve style – pretty much anything. They take measurements, make notes on the changes and order you a custom garment, designed to your specifications. I selected a dress that I loved everything about except the neckline and length. it was too short for my liking and the neckline was a high neck and I prefer an open neckline. Wait till you see how it turned out, it’s quite something.

Suzanne, I love this embroidered top so much! It creates the perfect boho outfit with those cute jeans and sandals, too. I love these colors together as well. So pretty for some springtime vibes!

Hi Shelbee!
You know I love any boho top and the color and embroidery details on this top are so beautiful. Melange has many beautiful tops so it was difficult to decide. The color and bell sleeve is what attracted me to this top in particular.

that top is just stunning!
Hi Amy! Thank you, it is really a gorgeous top. Can you believe over 80 hours went into the embroidery detail? Incredible detail in a time when many designers forget about this type of attention to detail!

I am beginning to love a embroided top more and more! Why don’t I own one? Lol.
Yes, why don’t you?? 🙂 I come to love embroidery details so much that when I am shopping online or second hand, I add “embroidery” into my search and see what beautiful boho finds appear!

I’m intrigued by both the top and the customization aspect. I’m looking forward to next Saturday’s post to read all about it!
Hi Andy! Do stop by on Saturday to learn more. Melange is the only retailer I’ve heard of that can provide this unique customization process – change up necklines, lengthen or shorten hems and sleeves – and much more.
It was really fun learning about Chandan’s vision and process. Stay tuned!
xx Suzanne
What a pretty top! This past year, I have been drawn to pieces that have some fun prints or detail as they need less accessories to make an outfit special.

Hi Mireille,
You are so right in that this top stands on it’s own – really no other accessories required. Kinda a one and done. This top really does make any bottom into a complete outfit.
Thanks for linking up with the Stylish Monday Ladies!
