3 Summer Wardrobe Solutions: Bralettes, Bras and No-Muffin Panties

Summer dressing comes with it’s own set of wardrobe challenges – specifically, what to wear UNDERNEATH all of the gorgeous, light-weight, strappy tops and dresses the warm weather brings.

Wardrobe Solutions #1: Bralettes

For each strappy dress or top I own – there is a bralette or bra solution, that corresponds with it. History has shown, if I don’t have the correct foundation piece to wear underneath, I won’t wear the item. Today’s dress was a ThredUp find, worn with the ‘Fence Side’ Bralette by Seams Lovely. As an option, you could wear a strapless bra under the bralette (but who really wants to do that?) or check options that offer more support like COOBIE |Amazon (HERE) (HERE) or SPANX (HERE)…or try a bra with a decorative back. ASB Style Tip: When shopping for a bralette, look for straps that do not “look” like bra straps like THIS one. $4.99 at Amazon | HERE (I haven’t tried this brand, but at $4.99, I had to give it a mention!)

Wardrobe Solutions #2: Lace Trim Bras

If you know where to look, there are many lace back bras available – but some can be pricey! And if you need a few colors, the bill can add up! I recently discovered a great line of fashion-back bras now available at Target! The line is called Auden and it’s worth taking a second look.

Wardrobe Solutions #3: No Muffin Top Underwear | HERE

There is nothing more annoying than underwear that twists and moves around under summer dresses. I’m not a fan of thong underwear; my go-to panty for under summertime dresses has always been Natori Bliss Panties (FLAT elastic edges – great for no panty lines, HERE) and Commando Hipsters (mold to your body with no panty line (HERE). While browsing the aisles at Target a few weeks ago, I came across an underwear display that shouted out in bold; NO MUFFIN TOP!!  Into the cart, a box of bikini’s and briefs went, if not for a fun story to share with my girlfriends at a later date.

My Two Cents: 

1. I found these to run a size small, so I sized up
2. These are NOT compression panties, so don’t expect them to replace Spanx or even Yummie Tummy panties.They are regular panties with a bit of holding power at the muffin area – genius!
3. Surprisingly, I liked the brief over the bikini
4. I did not find them to be seamless around the leg, so best worn with dresses or loose bottoms.
5. The bikini is fine, but IMO it does not ride up high enough to hold in any muffin. That said, I like the bikini on its own – with lower expectations.
6. The microfiber brief is exactly what I was looking for.
7. At 3 for $14.99, I would consider these a great value!
8. Try ’em, you might love them!
