Not new to the fashion scene, faux leather leggings appear to be on a uprise this season. And as we’ll show you today, with some thoughtful styling leather pants can actually work pretty much anywhere — even the office. It used to be, if you wanted a pair that didn’t feel like you were wearing plastic tarp, you needed to upgrade to either a pair of real leather pants or splurge on a pair of luxe, high priced vegan leggings. Now, you’ll find vegan leggings at every price, from retailers like Old Navy (35.00) and Target ($16.00 and up) to, if you want to splurge on the real deal, Vince ($995.00)!
So whether you decide to pair them with dressed-down staples like a graphic tee and an oversized cashmere cardigan (like THIS one, now 65% off!), or dress them up with a blouse and a plaid blazer, there are lots of ways to make leather pants work for you, and we bet when you are done browsing the looks we have for you today, you’ll understand just how wearable they really are.

Flattering and comfortable, Lysse vegan leather leggings are my go-to “dressy” leggings. Available at AMAZON | HERE and Nordstrom | Now On Sale, HERE. These leggings have a built-in shaper, so they do feel tight when you first try them on. I suggest begin with your regular size and see how they feel. I thought I needed to size up, but once I was in them, these babies weren’t going anywhere, in a good way. To get them on, I suggest folding the waistband down, skim the legging over the hip and then roll it back up-once on the body, they feel like second skin. But if tight is not your thing, perhaps size up.
Here is a look at the actual waist band on the Lysse (knit) legging, close up.
My second go-to leather like legging is pictured below with a red poncho. The Suedette legging by Ruby Ribbon has a 5″ tummy panel which keeps these leggings up and smooths out the tummy (without discomfort). These leggings are available in a wide size range of XS-XXXL. I personally own both the Suedette (HERE) and Ottoman Ponte (HERE) styles and am very pleased with the wear and fit. New to this season, I am loving the Vegan Leggings (HERE) as well as, are you ready?, the Studio 54 Legging (HERE and on my wish list!!). Ruby Ribbon leggings run TTS in my opinion.
Ruby Ribbon is sold by independent stylists which my pal Susan Battat happens to be. You can shop our virtual trunk show and browse all of this season’s Ruby Ribbon Leggings by Linking (HERE)
Last, but not least…are you looking for a great layer piece to keep your crotch area covered while wearing leggings?
Ruby Ribbon has designed the perfect butt/crotch covering layer piece with it’s Lace Extender! Available in 4 different styles with a new velvet piece this season, these are a must-have in my legging arsenal (HERE).

I love my leather leggings! This is such a great inspiration post. Thanks!
Thank you for stopping by Nancy! Aren’t leather leggings the best? I think some women are afraid to give them a go because their mind goes straight to Cat Woman, but once they realize how versatile and chic they really are, it is a love fest! Im looking forward to trying a few of these fun looks out on my own!
Happy Weekend,
Suzanne
Thanks so much for organizing this collaboration, Suzanne! And thanks so much for including me! I really enjoyed it!
You always style leggings so well! And I love the lysse ones I bought last year based on your recommendation.
Hi ANdrea! You bet, this was such a fun post! I love how each of us styled the same type of bottom in totally different ways, that’s what makes fashion so fun! THe Lysse ones are real winners. Mine are on their 3rd year and still going strong!I like that I can wear them all day and they are just as comfortable as my knit leggings – but create an entirely different look!
Happy Weekend,
xx
Suzanne

Hi, I’m searching for information on where you bought the cute fuzzy camel sweater you’re wearing above with the longer white layer piece underneath?
Hi and thank you for stopping by! The camel hooded sweater is by Sandro and I bought it at a thrift store in NYC a few years ago. perhaps check Urban Outfitters or anthropologie for something similar? Best, Suzanne
