I spotted the Verano dress at Anthropologie earlier this summer and fell in love with the print and back detail – it is such a unique dress, but I just wasn’t willing to pull the trigger at full price. I actually got as far as the register and chickened out last minute and put it back on the rack. So, when the Verano dress hit Fresh Cuts, with an additional 20% off the sale price last week, I immediately picked one up for myself.
This dress has mixed online reviews. Is it the most figure flattering dress – no. Is the slip a bit short – for some, maybe. But after playing with it a bit and adding the ‘Bree’ corset tie belt (also now on sale!), I found it to be the perfect middle of summer dress – lightweight, carefree and unique.
Here is a look at how I styled it up this week, with my Dolce Vita Ghillie gladiators and my Aria Pendant necklace from Stella and Dot:
dress/belt/sandals/necklace/cuff (similar)
The back is a bit low for me, so I wore my Free People lace bandeau, similar to this one HERE, under it.
If a bandeau is not your thing, one of these bralettes could possibly work as well. Both styles available on Nordstrom.com
Free People bralettes are great for those tops and dresses that simply will not play game, with a regular bra. For all Free People bralettes at Nordstrom.com HERE . They are also available at Free People and sometimes I get lucky, and find them at the Nordstrom Rack.
I know something is a keeper when I can style it up, multiple ways, with items found in my closet. Furthermore, if I purchase an item later in the summer, and can work it into my fall wardrobe for a few months – it’s an extra bonus!
Here’s a few ideas on how this dress be worn now, and can carry into the fall season.
Sans belt, paired up with sandals and a denim jacket – perfect for relaxed summer evenings.
With a denim blue leather jacket, Vince Camuto cut-out booties, and heavier accessories to balance out the look.
Same leather jacket, short suede booties.
Same booties, swapped out the leather jacket for my Rag and Bone Military Jacket.
Same jacket, added the strappy sandal.
It’s fall – with tall boots, the belt back on and heavier feeling jewelry for balance. You could add leggings for warmth as well.
And now, back to the present; a wear-now summer look:
There are loads of great markdowns to be found over at Anthropologie right now. New Fresh Cuts were taken, just this week. Promo code ‘SALEAWAY’ get you an additional 20% off all sale, plus as an added bonus free shipping – with a purchase over $150.00
If you decide to shop, be sure to take a peek at the accessories, handbags, belts, jewelry and home in addition to clothing markdowns. There are some great deals to be had right now!

Don’t miss the post on my new favorite necklace, which happens to be on sale now as well. And no, I have not abandoned my Kendra Scott Pendant, in fact I picked it up in Turquiose at the Nordstrom Sale, so you will be seeing double of it this fall! I’m just branching out at bit with this new Gorjana set.

It is indeed a lovely pretty dress. My preference is with the belt. I admire your restraint. I would have been too tempted and too scared they might not have it in my size anymore when the sale comes. So I would have bought it at full price. Retailers just love me.

It was hard, believe me, but I put it on the wait list and before I knew it, it was marked down:) I am with you, most flattering with the belt! Thanks for stopping by! XX
