Yesterday’s message, “Are gauchos and palazzo pants back this season?”, got me thinking. It’s time to talk pants.
My quick answer, Gaucho’s – sort of, Palazzo’s – reinvented. What??
Pants are big this season so a quick answer just won’t do. First off, always wear whatever you please. Period. You want to rock a pair of 70’s inspired Gauchos with tall boots? I say you go girl! Got a pair of crazy printed palazzos that make your boho heart swoon, then get out and hit the town! I don’t follow fashion rules – if I like it, I style it and wear it. But it does beg the question, what is happening with pants this season? If you’ve asked yourself the same question, you’ve come to the right place!
Fall 2018 Pant Trends
Crop Pants: Crop lengths in pants and denim are trending stronger than ever. Why? Shoes. But, instead of Gaucho, think wide leg crop. Imagine all of your favorite pants and jeans; skinny, bootcut, wide leg, flare, straight leg – all cropped at a flattering length above the ankle (or higher), to show off the amazing shoe party that’s happening this season. Additionally, mules are bigger than ever, with more styles and walkable options that we won’t walk out of. Mules are more flattering when worn with crop pants – plus don’t you want to shoe them off?
Wide Leg Pants: Palazzo’s have always been around for those of us who love a boho vibe and will continue to trend. But, for fall/winter 2018, the trend moves to a wide-leg cropped trouser, high-waist paper-bag pants, or a flattering high waist wide leg pant. This is not to be mistaken with the “interview pant” of the 90’s, the new trouser is chic and fresh – look for plenty of these cool and comfortable bottoms throughout 2018.
Cargo Pants? Keep ’em coming…In all silhouettes this season.
What About My Skinny Jeans? Skinny jeans lovers need not worry, this favorite will still be a plenty. Every year the forecasters tell us skinnies are on their way out, and they keep coming back. Look, it’s a silhouette too many women count on year to year – like leggings. If your skinnies are looking outdated, it could be the wash or the length. Consider your next pair in a dark wash. For length, cut them right above the ankle and DIY fray them yourself or spend $10 at the tailor to have them frayed or hemmed. So when is it time to trade a pair in? If the wash is outdated or the rise just too low, it may be time to go!
