Did you catch my most recent post on How to Host Your Own Clothing Swap? If you missed it, you can read all about the fun (HERE) and get caught up! I must say, our spring swap was a tremendous success. Not only did women leave with bags of new-to-me clothing, we donated 80 bras to Free the Girls, sent our leftovers to local charities and churches. And we came together as women, to celebrate a love of style, fashion, and supporting each other.
Back home with a few new-to-me pieces, I thought it would be fun to challenge myself to create a week of new outfits, using a piece from the swap, each day. For one, I love a challenge, but move importantly, I wanted to make sure the items I brought home, were going to work for me and my wardrobe. If I struggled to create an outfit, I figured why not pass it along to someone else who may want it, instead of allowing it just sit in my closet. I had after all recently purged my closet, and sent items to the swap. I didn’t want to clutter my closet all over again.
In celebration of Earth Day, I thought it would be fun to share my week of outfits – created with “new-to-me” pieces from the swap.
Here’s a look at the “new-to-me” pieces I had to work with:
Whew!
Ready for a look?

So yes, these pieces are all keepers. I have a few items that I’ll be passing along to friends, who can give a them better home in their closets. That’s the fun of a clothing swap. Passing pieces you no longer love or wear, to new homes where they will be loved once again!

Hi Suzanne,
I loved Day 7 that dress is just GORGEOUS! I love Thrifting, we call it Op-shopping! The clothing swap is a brilliant Idea, I was just thinking Im not sure who I would ask but REALIZED that a couple of my friends have kids and they belong to mothers groups, that could work! I’ll let you know how I go! Keep up the good work, your blog is amazing!

Hi Helen! Please explain – what does Op-shopping mean? I need to know! opportunity? I love that you love to thrift, another thing we have in common! I too love that Day 7 dress – so much so, I just wore the exact outfit for easter. It’s cute for summer without the blouse as well. Fun part too, the dress and blouse didn’t come together, but I found them both at the swap! Yes, grab some friends (less is often a good thing, less to sort) and if you want to start small, maybe swap shoes, accessories and handbags…maybe add nail polish…those are mostly one size fits all and you’ll get a feel for the swap process. I would suggest using the guidelines above – it keeps everyone on the same page. Let me know how it goes! FUn!! XOXO
