I’ve had my eye on this pair of Tracy Reese culottes for some time now, and when they hit the sale rack – I jumped at the chance to grab myself a pair!

These sat in my closet for a few weeks – they just weren’t coming together as an outfit for me.
Having some trouble styling them, I shifted my thinking; to imagine they were a skirt instead of jeans. A full skirt. Now, how would I style a full skirt? Keeping things in proportion, I would stick to the old guideline; full on bottom – fitted on top. Next, wedges/heels – to show of some leg.
I was making progress.
I find it helpful, whenever I bring a new item home, to shop my closet first. I try to make a few outfits, with what I have already hanging in my closet. Further, I find it helpful to snap pictures along the way, it keeps things more objective. You may be trying to make an item work, simply because it was on sale or you love the colors – that you then become emotional about the item, and justify keeping said item – even if it does not work, with what you already own.
That said, my culottes are a keeper, and I have 4 outfits to share – let’s take a look!
