This past weekend, my husband and I squeezed in a quick getaway to San Francisco. We spent 2 nights; touring around, lounging in coffee shops, and shopping during the day. We paid a happy hour visit to the rooftop bar, El Techo de Lolinda (the view alone was worth the wait).
Enjoyed 2 fantastic dinners at Foreign Cinema, and Lolinda Steak House.
Ate a yummy lunch at Tartine Bakery,
Picked up Peet’s coffee and breakfast at Cowgirl Creamery at the Ferry Building, and enjoyed a beautiful view of the bay. We even had time to catch a matinee!
Saturday morning market at the Ferry Building.
Packing for the City, or any city for that matter, can be tricky. Warm day/cold evenings, casual day/dressy for nightime – all in a carry-on.
Walkable shoes are a must, so you don’t end up like me.
Yes, this happened, when I couldn’t take walking the hills in heels, any longer.
City Girl Travel Essentials:
Jeans
One pair for day, and a 2nd pair for evening.
Leather Jacket
If you plan to pack light, a leather jacket is your friend. Leather can be dressed up or down, and provides warmth. Tie it around your waist, if the weather heats up.
Bootie
I prefer a bootie over a pump for city trips, as walking is always involved. The last time I wore a pump to the City, I ended up barefoot, walking the hills in the rain.
Comfortable Walking Shoe
No matter how much Ubering or subway you plan on using, you will ending up walking – a lot. Comfort is key. I like a black sneaker or comfortable flat shoes.
Flip Flops
I hate walking around hotel hallways barefoot. Or, what if you have to run outside and grab a coffee? Flip flops take up zero room in your bag, and I am always glad to have a pair with me.
Cashmere Wrap
I almost forgot this piece on my last trip, what a mistake that would have been. My black cashmere wrap can be worn as a scarf to ward off the wind, as well as a wrap in a chilly restaurant. A wrap can double up as a blanket on the airplane as well. And, it rolls up nicely in your handbag!
Daytime in the City Look
Leather jacket and tee, paired up with frayed crops and booties. As you can see, I left my flats at home and paid for it the next day. My feet hurt for 2 days upon returning home. These are my most comfortable booties, but they were no match for 2 days of walking in the City.
Had it been cooler, I could have wrapped my cashmere wrap around me, and been plenty warm.
Evening in the City Look
Switch out the tee; for a blouse and flair jeans (or your fave pair),
a Deux Lux fringe clutch, and Gorjana Lariat necklace.

Haha … the barefoot look cracked me up. How many times have I insisted on ridiculous (but fabulous) shoes and ended up like this?! Sounds like a wonderful weekend in SF and you look gorgeous, Suzanne. Love you in that chic moto especially!
Thanks so much for sharing with Fun Fashion Friday!

So true, what we do for fabulous shoes! I need to pick up a pair of those packable flats and just keep them in my purse (or take my own advise and when in the City, wear booties! These heels were no match for the hills on Powell! Thanks for hosting the link up and have a great weekend! XO
Sounds like you had a great weekend in the city! I love all your outfits! My leather jacket is ready to be retired, but I’ll be looking for a new one. It is really a great piece of clothing that can be dressed up or down.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend, Suzanne!
Not me, I take 2 pairs of shoes , a jacket and a sweater everywhere I go. You just never know! Lol
I don’t know how to add my picture to the circle.
Hi Angie! I think you use a gravatar. Or you add your photo onto google plus. See if that works.
Looks like a wonderful time, and you look city-perfect! Thanks for linking,
