I wish I could say I feel my best-self in every outfit, everyday. I must confess, this is not the case. My closet is my creative space – a place where on any given day, I can go a little crazy – or not. In large part, what I wear day to day, depends on the mood I wake up to in the morning. Any well planned outfit can take a turn for the worse, if I’m just not feeling it. When asked to define my style, I always say classic with a luxe/bohemian twist. So what the heck is that?
Classic Pieces – sheath dresses, crop jackets, flare denim, tunics, kitten heels, pencil skirts, anything in black.
Gorgeous/Luxe Fabrics – denim, cashmere, velvet, leather, silk prints, faux fur, brocade.
Mixed together with a free spirited twist – bell sleeves, a funky heel, hem details, quirky embellishments, funky accessories.
So when I came across this Elizabeth and James grey cashmere sweater (classic) with oversized bell sleeves (the twist) – it was love at first sight. Wanting the sweater to be the statement, I paired it with my favorite jean, the Hudson ‘Mia’ (I have 3 pairs; one destroyed, one in ultra dark denim and this pair of black frayed flare crops) a few classic accessories, and low heeled pumps, for a care-free classic, with a twist look!

One of the best outfits I’ve seen around–the belt just makes it! Thanks for the inspiration this morning. btw, loved the blog about a swap party.
Hi Bonbara! Thank you so much for your compliment and for stopping by! I do love this belt – goes to show the right investment pieces are well worth their price per wear 🙂 as I wear this belt all the time! XOXO
Love that top! I have similar black jeans and now I have an idea of how to wear them. XO Susan http://www.themidlifefashionista.com
Hi Susan! Thank you! I’ve worn these jeans many other ways, but I really liked how the flare worked with this particular shoe, and the bell sleeves were a fun touch. I know there are mixed opinions going around with the crop flare jean trend. I really think a huge part of getting this style right is the shoe. I also like them with white Adidas or sneakers as well as mules. Hope you had a great weekend! xx
I totally love the way you styled the bell sleeves sweater. My go to item is my black midi dress. I do feel confident WHEN ilove what I am wearing
Thank you! I love this sweater, but it is pretty full. By 1/2 tucking it, I felt it put some “control” back into the look. A black midi dress would look amazing on you, I can see why that would be a go-to for you! I just wish I could get my whole closet to be more favorites…not sure why that is so difficult? Perhaps is is that when we shop we may be in one mood and when we get dressed another. Well, its a goal of mine…someday I’ll get there! XOXO
Fabulous look! Inspiring us to dive into our closets today, xox
