Creating photos that are “blog ready” require a surprising amount of planning and work. To start, I need an outfit worth sharing. Then, I prefer to shoot in a decent location with good weather and lighting. But foremost, I need someone to snap the photos for me. The truth is, about 80% of the outfits I wear, never make it on to AskSuzanneBell.com or social media.

My Personal Style Diary
I enjoyed documenting my outfits long before the days of Instagram #OOTD or AskSuzanneBell.com. A fun and creative process, executed for the sole purpose of gaining a deeper insight into my own personal style. And whether it’s looking back 1 month or 10 years, I find it fascinating to see how my style has evolved and shifted over the years.
Each of the following photos were taken in January, going back 6 years. What patterns do you observe in my style year to year? If you documented your own style over the past 6 years, what common trend might you see?
How do I go about creating outfits that reflect my unique style personality?

Document Your Outfits, Discover Your Personal Style
1. Closet Play and Weekly Outfit Planning
Discover the joy of shopping your closet the next time you need an outfit (s). Begin by pulling out a few of your favorite pieces and create some fun looks. With your phone as an objective guide, snap photos along the way, analyzing the looks you’ve created.
Now, ask yourself the following:
- What’s missing?
- Do I need different shoes or accessories?
- Am I struggling to create looks I love?
- Am I missing a wardrobe essential?
- Make a list!
2. Create a Lookbook
Did you create a look you love? Go beyond the phone and document your style on an App!
I use the Personal Look App, HERE >>> http://www.personallookbook.com . Once you download the App, begin documenting your looks for 30 days.
Warning: this can become addictive!
3. Reflect
- What days did you feel your best self?
- What were you wearing on those days?
- Are there common pieces or elements within those looks?
- Create more of those!
4. A Work in Progress
Be patient and allow YOUR style to evolve over time. We live in a world where airbrushed social media, peers, Hollywood, magazines and retailers make us feel we should live and be a certain way in order to achieve happiness, carve out your own path.
5. Stop Comparing
Teach yourself to love YOUR body and style today. Discover the joy and ease that comes with creating outfits that reflect your personality and lifestyle, every day.
