Fall Denim Style Over 40 – Seven Pieces You Need to Know + 10 Work Ready Jeans

As much as I like getting wild and creative in my closet, some days I simply don’t have the time or creative bandwidth. Having a “uniform” on hand in my closet is essential for those times when I need to simply get out the door to meet with a client, attend a work lunch, or any other commitment where I need to appear  polished and professional. For days when I can go more on the casual side, a denim look is where it’s at for me. Seems easy, right? But many women have a difficult time, crossing the line from weekend denim to a professional and polished denim look.

Create a Classic Denim Look with 7 Key Pieces

1) Pick a dark wash or black bootcut jean (avoid embellishments, wiskering, bold stitching, distressing). 
2) Long cardigan ( a length that works on you)
3) Investment tote (or one that looks $$)
4 ) A black streamlined bootie with a walkable heel
5) Necklace|bangle|earring|ring set (I like silver for fall)
6) A white tee or shirt you love
7) Statement sunnies

Make the Investment  

This set can be tweaked in any way that suits your style and budget – consider it a guide. The topper can be long or short; it could be a jacket or blazer. I would love to wear this look all fall/winter long. When it comes to classic pieces, consider buying the best your budget will allow. Not only will they look expensive,  quality pieces last longer. Work-horse pieces need to fit and be comfortable – you are going to wear them a lot.
