Since spring, we’ve seen many new denim looks, but only when the weather starts to cool a bit, do I find myself wanting to jump in.
This past spring, I did pick up a pair of wide leg denim palazzos, that will continue to get use this fall, along with my favorite pair of jeans from Citizens, the ‘Emerson’ slim ankle boyfriend jean. I also found myself drawn to chambray, denim on denim, denim blazers and denim skirts.
For fall 2015, I am loving:
Crop styles: flared crop and straight leg
Denim skirts; midi and maxi lengths
With all these fun trends, we will be talking a lot more on denim, in upcoming posts on AskSuzanneBell. With back to school happening, many retailers have taken some nice markdowns on pieces that transition nicely into fall – wear now and later pieces to update your skinnies from the past. Yes, I know we love our skinnies, and paired with a cozy sweater and boots – it’s hard to top the uniform we have all grown to love, but know when you want options-there are now many to choose from!
Some of my favorite styles are on sale or promo this weekend, let’s take a look!
Citizens ‘Emerson’ slim boyfriend in Madera Light. Was $248.00 | now $165.60 HERE
Note this jean is also on sale at Anthropologie in a different wash. For me, it ran true to size.
For more Anthropologie sale denim, scroll down to the end of this post for details!
The ‘Emerson’ is my go-to jean. Mine is a darker wash, but I equally like the wash shown above.
Comfortable, can be dressed up or down – love!
Destroyed not your thing?
The ‘Emerson’ jean is available in multiple washes and without rips HERE
Joe’s slim ankle boyfriend jeans. Was $179.00 | now $119.93 HERE
Similar, the Paige Jimmy Jimmy skinny boyfriend at Anthropologie now $119.95 HERE
The slim, tapered ankle is what updates the boyfriend currently. In my opinion, it is a more flattering boyfriend than those of the past. This past spring, I posted a few trend posts on denim. To read up on boyfriend jeans and spring trends, HERE and on remixing your denim HERE
J Brand ‘Adele’ high rise crop. Was $228.00 | now $152.60 HERE
Joe’s ‘Collectors Markie’ crop skinny in Celeste. Was $172.00 | now $114.90
Citizens ‘Drew’ crop flare. Was $228.00 | now $152.76. HERE
Citizens ‘Drew’ flip flop jean. Was $268.00 | now $179.56 HERE
7 Jeans denim culotte. Was $198.00 | now $132.66 HERE
(I did order these myself and will update you all with fit when they arrive)
I am hoping to wear these now with wedges, sandals and heels – later, with tall heeled boots or booties.
A few denim pieces to mention, from our friends over at the Gap.

Here is a look at it on. This is a lighter wash from spring 2015:
This jean, in my opinion, is best for pear or hourglass shapes. On me, there was extra room in the hip, when I sized down the rest of the jean was tight and not a great fit (see above). This jean along with the Sexy Boyfriend jean, I recommend be tried on. The Sexy Boyfriend is a more true boyish cut vs. the Girlfriend jean, which is more tapered and slim fitting.

Here’s a few pretties that caught my eye while browsing the new markdowns:
I have had the McGuire Flare Jean on my wish list for awhile and had tried it on early spring, here is how it looks on:
Note: I did size up in this jean. It has mixed reviews online. It is a thinner denim, so if you like a traditional denim – may not be for you. Probably best to try it on in store if you spot in on the sale rack. Note, these have a raw edge on the bottom as well, so I am not sure how you go about altering. The lighter wash is already sold out online, but the dark is still available. I was in my local store on Friday and they had a few pairs to try on. Maybe still available in store? They sound like a hassle I suppose, but if you love the fit, maybe worth checking them out!
Looking to try out denim overalls?
I wore these back in the 90’s as a uniform – daily, so I may not be revisiting this trend. I do think it is fun, so here’s a look at this stylish pair via Old Navy, available now for $34.00 (was $45.00), styled up on the fabulous Melissa from over at YummoMummo.com on Instagram:
