Right here in my own backyard resides a gem of designer, my friend and entrepreneur Namrita Chettiar. I met Namrita last fall at a networking event for local women entrepreneurs and we hit if off right away. Over coffee one morning, Namrita invited me to stop by her studio to browse her collection of dresses and preview her next collection…well, you know what my answer was! Each of Namrita’s designs are special and unique – from a design, fit, quality and fabrication standpoint. AND her designs are sustainable and environmentally friendly. Do you love her already? You can read all about her story, inspiration, fabrics and mission on her website www.NamritaChettier.com (HERE). And while you are there browsing her gorgeous designs, consider signing up for her Journal to receive updates and get 15% off your first purchase along with updates on new styles and availability. You can also follow her journey as I do on Instagram @NamritaChettiar (HERE).

About Today’s Dress
You know I love the look and versatility of a shirt dress. So when Namrita generously offered me the opportunity to select a dress from her collection to share with all of you here on AskSuzanneBell.com, the Gema seemed like a natural choice. A shirt dress with a twist, I’ve worn the Gema dress so many ways – differently day-to-day. I’ve dressed her up with nude wedges as well as down with white sneakers. Today I opted for a pair of ankle wrap sandals (later in the day I switched into my gold slides). Come fall, dark brown boots and a denim jacket would be an effortless pairing.
I love unique designs and fabric, and each of Namrita’s designs are full of little details you won’t see everywhere else. Today’s shirt dress is 100% Hand-block Printed using natural dyes and Handwoven Kalamkari. New to the term Handwoven Kalamkari? Namrita explains the history, process and sustainability of all her fabrics on her website (HERE). If you look closely you’ll see the most unique buttons and piping along the hemline of my dress. The attached belt can be adjusted and worn up or down depending on where the band hits your waist. MADE IN SAN FRANCISCO.
