Now that I’ve got you thinking about your next sunny vacation or simply dreaming of warm weather east of California, let’s talk one of my favorite warm weather essentials – hats!

There are so many cute hats available today from floppy to fedora – wide brim fedora to a new shorter brimmed floppy.

With the help of patient girlfriends I have tried on MANY hats and after much searching these are 4 of my favorites
Nordstrom Brand Wide Brim Sun Hat $28.00 | in 5 colors | HERE
A new hat this season – the reviews are great and I can see why. This may be the most comfortable floppy hat I have tried, in part due to the fact it is not so floppy! The width of the brim is shorter than my other floppy hats and the back of the brim is even shorter to avoid bending around on the back of your neck and lounge chair. A real winner and at $28.00 worth taking a look!
J Crew Textured Summer Straw Hat (a big wearable floppy hat) $34.50 | in natural and black | HERE
This hat is great for the price. It runs a larger than the Nordstrom wide brim hat above so if your head is on the larger side this may be for you. Wears well and looks more expensive than it is. I have packed it in my suitcase a few times the past year and it has held it’s shape nicely (just be sure to stuff your swimsuits into the top portion to avoid squishing it)
J Crew Panama Hat $58.00 | in 3 colors and 3 sizes | HERE
I love the look of the Panama hat and if you like the look, I think J Crew does it best for price and style – it also comes in 3 sizes.
I love this hat for around town with anything from a maxi dress to jeans. It is super light and comes in handy on bad hair days!
Mine is white with a black band which I purchased after seeing a darling blogger wearing it with a black maxi dress and flat sandals at a Farmer’s Market. I flip-flopped between the white and natural and in the end thought perhaps the white brightened my face more – that said, I like them both.
Keep in mind, it does not offer as much sun protection as the other three, but throw it on instead of a baseball hat for instant chic-ness!
My Panama hat from J Crew sadly did not look as fresh this year when I took it out of storage, it has lost some of it’s shape.
That said for the price, the Panama hat is a fun topper that one could wear all summer long.
Eric Javits Fedora $165.00 | in 7 colors | HERE
Packable with UPF 50
I own all four of these hats – hands down the most used one in my collection is this fedora. I love the weight, fit, color options and quality of this hat. I own it in the natural color with the blue denim color band (which has a little thread of silver running through it) and I would love one in black! I find I wear this poolside to dinner and anywhere in between. Yes, it is pricier but it is a fantastic hat that is comfortable, stylish and keeps it’s shape. It is an investment piece that will be worn for seasons to come.
Since every hat needs it’s own accessory, I am loving these Ponytail Holders from L. Erickson
They keep my pony in place with no sliding or headache
