A shoe lover’s surprise at Nordstrom + Early Black Friday Deals
It’s been a while since I was wowed by anything in Nordstrom’s shoe department. But when I stopped by my Palo Alto store this week to pick up an online order, I noticed the entire store was fully stocked like I hadn’t seen in ages—and for the first time in a long time, I felt compelled to check out the new shoes. There was a huge display of Uggs – men’s and women’s -, with fresh styles of slippers and boots that finally break the cycle of the past five years. Lots of new boots, loafers, ballet flats, and holiday styles too. Aside from a good selection of boots, the real standouts were from Sam Edelman (some now on the Early Black Friday Sale) – mules, ballet flats, Mary Janes – and a pair of Dolce Vita square-toe loafers. The Dolan faux suede jacket appears to be back in stock?
A few weeks ago, I shared the faux suede blazer by Dolan at Anthropologie, along with a terrible photo of me wearing it in a size three sizes too big to give you an idea of what it looked like in person. When I tried to order it, the salesperson told me all sizes were backordered until around December 24, so I passed. This week, while updating my Carted wishlist, I saw the backorder date had moved up to November 20. That I could work with, so I placed an order on Tuesday, and by Wednesday, my jacket had shipped! If you were eyeing this item, it now appears to be back in stock—so it’s worth a second look!

As you know, I prefer jackets on the longer side, hitting at hip length or lower to help elongate my short torso. But for those of you who prefer a more cropped silhouette that hits closer to the waist, my friend was wearing this faux leather bomber at lunch the other day, and it looked SO cute on her!
