As another school year comes to a close, summer events such as Graduation Ceremonies and other daytime celebrations give us yet another reason to up our style game. Sure, there will be weddings, al fresco parties, poolside parties, Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and so much more; but for today, let’s talk graduation attire!
What to wear? Start with the venue. Is it a morning, afternoon or evening event? Will you be on a football field or auditorium? If you are going to be on a football field, you may want to re-think those 4 inch heels. Morning or evening – consider layers. You will be sitting for some time, possibly in the mid-day heat; a hat may be necessary. Unless it’s evening; sunglasses are a must. Most of all, wear something that is comfortable, yet put together. These events tend to get crazy. Consider scheduling a nail appointment and blow out for the day of, it’s one less thing to worry yourself with, AND you’ll be able to relax for 45 minutes in the chair – you’ll be thanking me later! There will be photos, LOTS OF PHOTOS, treat yourself to a new lipstick! I am loving Velour Extreme Matte Lipstick from Laura Mercier right now. Long lasting, I carry a pot of Lip Slip from Sara Happ – to add a bit of moisture to my lips as the day goes on, and don’t forget the tissues!
Here in Northern California, especially the Bay Area, events tend to be a bit less formal than other parts of the country or the East Coast. I’m sharing a few looks that I have worn or would wear to Graduation Ceremonies in our area. I’d love to know what you all wear in your parts of the country! Drop us a line down below and share your ideas. I find that many women get stumped when it comes to what to wear to these types of events, do you?
