How I Fake Fall with Accessories + 3 Wear Now Fall Looks

Without exception, fall hits and it’s the same ol’ story. Eager for autumn, I’m ready to change up my look, despite the fact it feels like summer. I switch out my closet, it’s hot. Put away ALL of my summer clothes, still blazing. Get excited to wear a sweater because it’s in the high 60’s – next day, scorching. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll take a warm summer day over cold winter one any day of the week; what I don’t care for is wishy-washy weather. I’m a Virgo, I like predictable.

Something about pumpkins, leaves turning, Halloween and Christmas trees at Target (eek!), gets me in the mood for a cozy sweater, boots and leggings. I enjoy celebrating a new season. The California girl in me figured out long ago, Indian Summers are just part of the deal. We have 2 seasons; summer and winter. I came to learn I can participate in all the fab fall style by simply switching out my accessories. Today’s three looks were photographed on beautiful fall days, when temps soared at one point into the 90’s. I’m wearing are summer weight pieces that when paired with darker colors and fall accessories, the look becomes a bit more with in sync with the current season.

5 Easy Ways to Fake Fall Fabulous

1. Swap out your straw bag for nubuck, suede or leather; in a beautiful fall color or print.
2. Switch out your sandals for ballet flats or booties.
3. Even if it’s over a lightweight tank, pop on a jacket or blazer. Roll up your sleeves if you feeling the heat.
4. Store your brights; try moving toward black, grey or navy as your base color.
5. Pop on a lightweight scarf in a fall color print.

Look 3:  A Free People summer weight lace boho tunic is paired with lightweight denim, suede booties …there’s that backpack again! Note my necklace and bracelets are a heavier weight than I would wear in the summertime – to balance out the dark colors and weight of the booties.
