One of the many perks of turning 50 is I have now personally had the pleasure of experiencing each fashion cycle from the past 50 years. From 70’s bell bottoms and Madonna’s 80s, to 90’s brocade and velvet – the ever changing world of fashion allows us to reinvent, or not, our wardrobes with each new season. As I look at my style today, a confluence of generations of influence, coupled with a freedom that comes with no longer caring what others think of what I wear. I choose to wear what I like with confidence, regardless of trend, or what the fashion world is dictating at the moment.
I love today’s outfit share. Inspired by generations of style, it’s a look that feels totally me right now.
Knowing I wanted to wear this classic Smythe leather trimmed tweed jacket with denim, I thought it would be fun to pair it up with a long lace tank by Dolce & Gabanna for date night with Mr. Bell. Keeping with the “Material Girl “Madonna influence, my large vintage cross seemed like a natural pairing with the lace top. I love the ankle zippers on these Frame jeans (ahm, Guess Ankle Zip Jeans anyone?) as they allow my gold heel mules to really shine. No outfit in my book is complete without a little animal print. By keeping the color tone of the jacket and bag in the same family, pattern mixing is a cinch.
And a rare appearance by Mr. Bell.
It would appear we both have a thing for denim and plaid right now!
