Happy Monday and welcome back to an all-new Stylish Monday! With everything around us changing on a daily basis, we, the women of Stylish Monday, thought we’d change things up a bit as well. So instead of bringing you our usual “how-we-wear-one-of -this-seasons-trends”, we’ve decided to share our thoughts and ideas on how we’re managing our own stress and wellness, during this very “not normal” time around the world.
One thing remains constant, we’d love to see what you’re posting right now. Now more than ever, we need human connection – even if it’s virtual. We encourage you to share your Blog and Instagram posts in the global link-up party at the bottom of today’s post. And once you link up, consider visiting a few of this week’s participants, and maybe drop them a line. You never know, a few lines of encouragement just might be what someone on the other side of the world needs, to get through another day.
Here in California, we’ve been under a Shelter-In-Home mandate for 3 weeks now (going on 4) – with another entire month (at least) to go. Since this all began, I’ve been sharing my musings, recipes, home workout ideas, working from home tips and other helpful links on staying sane and connected in my weekly Friday post on AskSuzanneBell.com. If you’d like to get caught up on my personal journey through this “not-normal-new-normal” time, here are the links:

I’ve discovered the longer you live together under one roof, it is crucial you carve out some “me time”. Last week, I decided to give myself a “Spa Like” Manicure and Pedicure. I can’t remember the last time I did my own nails, but my nails were in bad shape and I was in need of some quiet time. I’m happy to say, the hour spent at my home spa was just what I needed, to recharge and lift my mood.
DIY HOME SPA PEDICURE
- Let the family know you are taking a time out and close the door if possible.
- Instruct Alexa to “play spa music.
- Add your favorite essential oils to your diffuser or light a candle
- Add Epsom Salts (I like Dr. Teals | HERE), or any other foot soak) to the tub, a large bowl, or footbath like this one at Target | HERE, or HoMedicas @ Target HERE.
- As you soak your feet, cut, file and push back cuticles (eek!)
- Scrub legs and feet with body scrub allowing the scrub to soak in for 10 min or so. I like Shea Moisture Scrub (HERE), or THIS from Dr. Teals looked interesting | HERE.
- Give yourself a leg and foot massage with a lotion of choice. I use Fus Balm from Kerstin Florian (HERE). For a great budget option try Palmers (Target | HERE).
- Move to the bed or a comfortable chair and wrap your feet in a foot mask. I have (THIS) one from Karuna. AMAZON | HERE.
- Enjoy a few pages of your favorite book (currently reading | THIS BOOK) or magazine while your feet soak in the mask.

Next up, let’s take a look at what the ladies of Stylish Monday are doing to stay sane, in a world that is anything but:
Andy Schwartz | Pearls and Pantsuits ( Lousiana)
It’s easy to become overwhelmed and stressed out as the pandemic quarantine continues on (and on)…in today’s post, I’m sharing how my husband and I are weathering the storm, and managing to stay joyful during the confinement; along with some favorite new discoveries! Nicole Molders of High Latitude Style (Alaska)
At the last Frontier, people are used to coping with shortages of any kind and being isolated and self-entertaining. Toilet paper is often kept in an old cucumber slices jar and yes PJs are common under the heavy down coats. Thus, what changed is the way to work and to self-entertain, sort off. And it all depends on guess what? Temperature and air quality. Read more in Nicole’s post, Staying Sane Around the Globe: Interior Alaska | (CLICK HERE)
Nina Bandoni of Sharing a Journey (Florida)
What’s for dinner? Returning to meal planning and cooking for three whilst shopping once or twice a month, instead of several times a week. Dusting off my chef’s hat and other fun in Florida | (CLICK HERE)
Nancy Baten of Nancy’s Fashion Style (Netherlands)
We are so lucky that we have sunshine over here! Although it is still very cold, 10 degrees celsius. But I can totally relax when I am reading in the sun! With a few blankets under and over me, lol. And in style of course! Read more in Nancy’s post, Staying Sane Around the Globe: The Netherlands | (CLICK HERE)

Me time has been essential: my favorite is my morning coffee on the back porch looking at the woods and listening to the birds. It doesn’t always happen as the kids try to join me sometimes so then I try to have a little time out there in the evening.

What a great idea to have a home Spa! I could use a Pedicure! Gonna do This! Thanks for the inspiration.
Did you give it a go? It’s about time for my second one – I’m ready! xx Suzanne
Such a wonderful post Suzanne! I haven’t had an actual salon pedicure in several years, as the fear of infections have scared me off. I usually just slap some paint on my toes! I love the idea of a more spa like experience, and will give it a try! heaven knows I have the time now!
Hi Andy! Like you, I have always had that fear of infections in the back of my mind when it comes to pedicures. What has stopped me from doing it at home in the past is time – but no we have a little extra of that? Maybe by the end of this I’ll have the polish part down, and I’ll be a pro 🙂 xx Suzanne
I love that you are celebrating what you all have!! We can certainly be positive about our blessings.
XOXO

Hi Jodie! Thank you for stopping by. Yes, we are trying our best to work with what we have and find joy in ordinary things. But man, it can be hard as you know. I loved your swimsuit post so much I shared it in this week’s round-up from the Blogosphere. Thank you for the positive vibes and down to earth posts. xx Suzanne
