I am a huge fan of dresses, especially maxi styles. Dresses are designed make getting ready a cinch. Bring out the dress, and add a fun pair shoes, a little bling and off you go! Easy to pack, they work day to night, and when you find a style that works for you – they look and feel great on! Same goes for jumpsuits. My first jumpsuit found it’s way into my closet, spring 2014. A beautiful blue, wide leg Vince Camuto number, I bought it, stewed on it awhile, till one evening I wore it out to dinner with the hubby. Not only did I feel confident, but husband loved it as well – bonus! As I explained to my jumpsuit skeptical girlfriend; think of a jumpsuit as a maxi dress with legs. Truth is, jumpsuits show off your figure way more than a maxi dress and are comfortably sophisticated.

Now, finding a jumpsuit that’s fits is the real the challenge. My two cents; as with a dress, the top portion must flatter your figure, the bottom half can usually be altered. I look for styles and silhouettes that work for me in a dress, i.e.: wrap style, halter, short sleeve, sleeveless, mock neck etc. I currently own many jumpsuits and 1 romper as I find rompers are a little more difficult to find for women over 40.

So let’s talk rompers. If you wear shorts, you can work a romper. The key for us ladies over 40, is to avoid looking “girly”; I prefer to aim for “sassy chic”. Keep the romper at a modest length; not too short, in a beautiful fabric and if needed, throw kimono over it and you feel a bit more covered up. Rompers also make great swim cover-ups! If I am going to bare the leg, I opt for some sleeve on top – let’s leave the spaghetti tops and bra strap romper looks to the teen set. I’m too tall to wear a cute wedge sandal with a romper, but for those of you who are petite, add a chic espadrille or wedge and your legs will look a mile long! For me I opt for a nude or gold flat sandal, again to make the leg appear longer.
A piece that can take you anywhere, here’s a look at a few of my favorites. Tell me, which is yours?

Hi Maureen! A fellow one piece dressing lover! Those 1st two are both from anthropologie, I think they have some of the best options! ALways unique and a big selection. I usually am able to pick them up on sale which is great! I added a new one to my collection last month that I picked up in the Antrho Sale closet for under $20! How could I resist? Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xx Suzanne
I CAN’T BELIEVE THE TIMING ON THIS POST.
i don’t wear jumpsuits. I’m long in the torso so they ride up on me. Not a good look. however, while out thrifting over the weekend i found a jumpsuit. it look cute on the hanger so I took it home.
it’s the same one you are wear in the second picture. googled it. score! Anthropologie!
the best part is no “riding up”!! i can’t wait to wear it!
Hi Ella! How fun is that! That black jumpsuit was hands down one of my favorites last summer. If you hop over to my instagram account and scroll a bit, you will find some ideas on how I wore mine. It’s perfect if you have a long torso because the “Body” is longer than other pieces. I have worn it with and without the belt. I.have also worn it backwards with the tie in front! I found a bandeau to work best under it if you are struggling with what bra to wear with it. It’s cute dressed up or down, you found a winner! Thanks for stopping by! xx Suzanne
