29 years, and I have never missed the 1st day of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. I know this because I worked 16 sales in a row, while employed by Nordstrom Inc., and I retired when my daughter, now 13 was born. Never once, have I missed opening day – till now. Best intentions, but life happened and the sale did not.
While other Style Bloggers were posting joyful dressing room pics, with perfectly coiffed ‘do’s, and Instagram posts of shopping hauls from their shopping adventures over at Nordies, my Thursday Insta Post would have been something like this:
Homemade watermelon margaritas made from left-over watermelon the kids took to the pool, Tostitos Scoops and salsa (notice the blender is empty). The family was served take-out burritos, as we sat around in the 100 degree heat at the end of a very action packed day. I was cooked.
Back up to 18 hours earlier, when the sale went live at 12AM Thursday, I logged onto my computer (it was one of those over caffeinated days for me #mamacouldntsleep), and ordered the Joie never seen animal print sweater coat, and James Perse sleeveless dress – afraid they would sell out by dawn.
Ok, so I did kinda shop the first day of the sale – just not in a store. #gottaloveinternetshopping #24/7
Any day now Mr. UPS!

And before bed Thursday night, I did manage to get my hot picks out on Facebook and Instagram to you all, and today was a whole new day!
With 2 hours (sans kids) free, I made a dash over to my local store to check out some items on my list. Minus drive time, I had from 10:15-11:40 free before I had to pick up the kids. This gave me time to hit the first floor; shoes, accessories, and jewelry – denim will have to wait.

Let’s get shopping!
Round One Picks from Thursday Night:
Top left clockwise: James Perse | Joie | Butter London | Rebecca Minkoff | Illesteva | Natori | Kendra Scott
Denim left to right: Current Elliot | Frame | Rag and Bone
Round Two from Today:
Top left clockwise: Missoni | Illesteva |Gorjana | Echo | Tory Burch | Alex and Ani
Center: James Perse (in 3 colors) | Joie
First stop is always shoes, and the shoes look great this sale, so we’ll start there.
On the top of my list to pick up, was the Tory Burch ‘Dillan’ in brown snake (bottom right box), but fell in love with the black patent, while trying them on in the store.
These came home with me in black. Reviews state to size up, but here I am wearing my true 8 1/2. The size 9 had too much extra room in the front of the sandal. 3 COLORS | SNAKE
Rag and Bone ‘Margot‘ – love the tassel!
These next 5 are all fabulous in their own way. If I had to pick one, I would go with the wine colored silver buckle bootie from Alexander Wang – stunning!
Clockwise top left: Alexander Wang (almost sold out ) | Pedro Garcia | Rag and Bone (without the tassel) | Alexander Wang
One of my catalog picks from Louise et Cie,
a great shoe for work, though it was just a little bit high for me. Love the tweed, and the burgundy (available online)
The boot everyone is raving about, that you should check out if you are in the market for an OTK boot, is the ‘Hilo’ by Stuart Weitzman, HERE. I personally love the ‘Soho’ tall boot HERE, as it is more my lifestyle.
Accessories:
Well, first a link to my favorite panty.
The ‘Bliss’ Bikini from Natori (3/$36) HERE | All Natori on sale HERE
I had planned to purchase the Illesteva ‘Leonard II” sunglasses in black, but once seeing them in store purchased the dark tortoise color (sold out online). The black in person was a little too funky for me. That said, these are a really fun pair of sunnies -note they are mirrored.
My favorite pony holders are on sale for under $20 (top left) | Illesteva Sunnies (they had 4 pairs left in the store) | Above and below, is a fun belt that the sale gal said had been super popular. I like the double buckle. Perfect for cinching ponchos, cardigans and wraps.
Speaking of wraps, this cashmere wrap is a MUST HAVE if you do not own one. I own 2 from last year that you may have seen featured on the blog many a time. At under $100, they are a steal! These make great gifts as well. I like THIS one by Halogen, for its shape and weight.
Available in 6 colors.
Note there is a second one from Halogen, if you prefer heavier and square HERE.
I loved this kimono wrap from Echo | $64.90. Wear now and later, I picture pairing this with destroyed denim, a tee and flip flops to over a black knit dress with booties.
In 3 color combos. This one is kinda a sleeper as it has no hanger appeal, I liked it – and bought it in the black combo pictured here.
So what’s happening here? First off, this piece was merchandised all wrong. The store had it hanging like photos 2,3 and 4. So I tried belting it etc. Well, I finally realized it is to be worn like the photo in the top left. That said, I guess you could wear it both ways. I didn’t have enough time to really play with the belting idea – but here’s a first try at it. A fun piece for fall with denim, or over all black.
Kendra Scott
Of course I love it all, it’s Kendra Scott. But if I had to pick one, its the ‘Jake’ Lariat HERE. Note, this is a pretty heavy piece, it felt kinda like wearing a medal – but it is gorgeous. Because of the weight, I would most likely wear this in the evenings etc., not all day around town.
For everyday, I liked the ‘Thea’ adjustable lariat from Gorjana, HERE
It adjusts from a pendant to a lariat in one swoop – super cool!
#gorjanalove
My middle of the night purchases:
James Perse (in 3 colors) | Joie ‘Berit’ animal print sweater coat
Denim
There is a TON of denim to choose from – at every price, size and style.
These 3 caught my eye as just a little different than what I already own.
Current Elliot | Frame | Rag and Bone
