Let’s Talk Fall Denim!

I hope you all enjoyed this last weekend of summer! Well, technically, but around here I think we are in for a nice Indian Summer, for at least a few more weeks! Our Labor Day Weekend was spent with friends on the coast – fabulous! The weather was gorgeous, and the kids spent the weekend in the waves, lounging in the warm sand, walking on the beach, all while the grown-ups enjoyed some down time – in the company of dolphins, who came by to play, while we enjoyed our morning coffee. I don’t know about you, but my family spends so much time bustling around, slow morning time, has become what we enjoy most, while being on vacation.

Now, back to work – it’s time to talk fall denim!

FLARE JEANS

One denim trend, that appears to be going mainstream is, THE FLARE! Flare jeans, go hand-in-hand with the 70’s movement, which is trending big for fall.  Flares, though probably my favorite style of jean, are not an every day jean for me, as I prefer them paired with heels or wedges.  I have a few pairs from seasons past and would love to add a sleek, mid-rise black pair to my collection, one of these days.  Meanwhile, I have no plans on hanging up my skinnies and tall boots anytime soon- my fall/winter Mom Uniform. In fact, I just stepped up and ordered THIS pair of boots to replace my very worn out tall black boots, from many seasons past. I plan on wearing these beauties, with skinnies and leggings #readyforfall!

 

A NEW SKINNY

I dug out my skinnies from last year, and I have to say, I am no longer wild about the low rise, I mean they are pretty low-eek! Anyone else getting tired of the falling down skinny? Might be time to invest in a pair of mid rise skinnies this season – I’m thinking dark denim wash or black, stay tuned.

THE FRAYED CROP

Another trend I am all over right now is the cropped|frayed hem jean.

I already own THIS straight leg version from Current Elliot – which I love.

I have been on the lookout for sometime, for wide leg crop to add to my denim collection. So, when this pair, from Seven for All Mankind, hit the sale rack – I jumped at the chance to take it for a spin, HERE

A bit of background, on how I got to this point. I have been on the lookout for a version of the Rachel Comey ‘Legion’ pant (Indigo) HERE , since I first spotted it, last spring.

I have big plans for this style for FW15. I can picture it with mid-calf boots, heels, lace up flats, wedges – the list goes on.

 Fabulous, right? Oh, and that sleeveless turtleneck above? Also on my Fall Wishlist. Yes, right at the top of the list, already looking for it – I’ll keep you all posted on progress!

Truth be told, I wanted my pair to be a bit more cropped than the Rachel Comey pair, so a bit more skin shows, between the top of my boot and pant hem (yes, I have thought this through!), just like the gal above.

Here is a look at my new arrival

pros: it fits like a glove. The high waist holds in everything, which allows me the freedom to wear a variety of tops and sweaters – form fitting to crop. I like the wash/ distressing and the weight is great. The fit is true to size.

cons: I was unsure if the leg opening was wide enough, and the hem detail dramatic enough, The hem detail is more subtle, which many may prefer.

Keep in mind, it’s still 90 degrees out in these parts, so I can’t go total fall on you yet.
