As the weather heats up, out come the sundresses, sandals, straw totes and of course straw hats! A chic essential for every wardrobe, what’s your favorite topper? When it comes to hats, I gravitate toward ones that are comfortable and stay put. Sounds obvious, but all hats do not fit the same. I love the look of a floppy straw hat, but day to day my fedora wins! And when you do find your match, consider buying two! I love the weight, fit, color options and quality of the Eric Javits Fedora. I own it in a natural color with a denim blue band (which has a little thread of silver running through it) as well as in black. This simple topper takes me poolside to dinner and anywhere in between. Yes, it’s on the pricey side, but it is a fantastic hat that is comfortable, stylish and keeps it’s shape. Both hats have traveled in my suitcase summer after summer and they are still as good as new!
The Fedora
My exact Eric Javits fedora is a few years old. I did manage to locate mine in black on Amazon | $170.00 | (HERE)
A new version of the Eric Javits Fedora is now available, $250.00 | Packable with UPF 50 | 4 colors | Nordstrom (HERE)
The Panama Hat
If a Fedora doesn’t speak to you, the panama hat is a great option. A signature look over at J Crew, panama hats can be found everywhere. I found a few at great prices over at Target and Nordstrom Rack. I personally found these hats do not pack well, but it is a very lightweight style and paired with a sundress and sandals you’re ready for anywhere from the farmers market or patio party!

The Floppy
It doesn’t get more poolside chic than a pair of big sunnies and a big floppy hat. And nothing will shield your face from harmful sun rays like a wide brim hat. Like many things glam, finding a floppy hat that fits your head and body can be a whole other story. Luckily there are many options. So many, one really just needs to get out and try a few on. I have found fabulous looking floppy hats everywhere from Target to Nordstrom and Anthropologie. Look for one that speaks to you and is comfortable on your head. I have given many away over there years that simply did not fit the bill. My stripe canvas floppy is a reversible hat from Anthropologie last summer. My white floppy was from Nordstrom Rack.
Hair Ties!
A summertime essential, I’ve tried MANY a hair tie, and my favorite for years are the Grab & Go Set from L. Erickson. Available in sets of 15 or 8 | Nordstrom (HERE)

Suzanne,
You look ADORABLE in every single hat! I lOved how you styLed each and every one! Makes me wan to wear hats!
Thank you Julie! Hats out in these parts are essential, the sun has gotten so hot! As you can see my perfect hat is the Fedora..my sunnies fit perfectly under it and it works for any bad hair day! Thanks for stopping by! xx
Hi Suzanne, so good to see you all getting ready for the Summer months ahead, I have to say of all your hats my absolute FAVORITE has been the do not DISTURB hat from one of your holidays, I just loved the idea of sitting by the pool with that on my head!
They are all lovely and so essential.
take care H x
You look adorable as always! Here is my big question for you. How do you avoid hat hair? I always think I will wear a hat but then relent because I invariably have to do something in the evening and don’t want that familiar ring around the back or ponytail ring. Help!
So great question and I’m not sure! I so often wear my hat when my hair is a hot mess, so the hat doesn’t come off, LOL! I suppose if I did wear a hat in the day, over clean hair 🙂 I would most likely then wear it in a pony tail or bun for evening…to avoid the flat top from hair head! xx
oh I love all your hats! I am a big hat fan myself but have a hard time finding styles that work for my face shape. My favorite is the boat hat! Can’t wait for the sun to shine two days in a row so I can wear mine! Ha ha! great post!
Cheryl

Suzanne,
I love all your hats but I think you look adorable in a fedora!
Summer weather has arrived in Atlanta and I’m starting to wear more hats to protect my face!
