No, I do not need more summer clothes. However, when you live in a place like California, it’s nice to have a few pieces that will transition your wardrobe into fall, in wear-now fabrications. So while you’re focusing on shopping for the kids, making lists and getting ready for Back-To-School, why not grab a piece or two for yourself? That’s right, come end-of-summer us moms could use a little refresh, and now is the time to do it because EVERYTHING is on sale! This time of year is a great time to pick up a few basics (tees, tanks and shirts) during BTS sales, and browse summer transitional pieces that have hit the sale racks at slashed prices. And since I know you all are busy prepping for the upcoming weeks with kiddos, I rounded up 25 AskSuzanneBell Summer Favorites to refresh your transitional wardrobe – starting at $20.00, on sale at J Crew! Looking for more? I’ve spotted great deals on wear-now pieces at Gap, Old Navy, Anthropologie, Free People and Nordstrom Rack as well as true fall pieces over at ThredUP!

Summer Style in Transitional Fall Colors
I’m obsessed with mustard yellow and olive green for fall, and a piece like this dress can be layered with a tee under it or a cardigan/jean jacket over it, for cooler mornings and evenings come fall. I’ve had my eye on this dress since June, and now that it went under $50.00, I decided to pull the trigger. (HERE)
Bodysuit Anyone?
I own this bodysuit and if you like a bohemian layer piece to work back to denim, this is a good one. I bought my regular size. Note: it isn’t really bra friendly so you would need a bralette or deep-v strapless bra. Or if you dare, go braless in true 70’s fashion! In beautiful transitional fall colors. (HERE)
Finally on Sale!
I reviewed this stripe skirt back in April and it is FINALLY on sale! Now on sale for $44.99. Note: I DID find it ran a bit small and sized up from my regular J Crew size. I am usually a 4, but I could not get it buttoned. The size 6 fit well. (HERE)
PS Suzanne, button’s go on the side! 🙂
Big Bang for the Buck!
I am always cold, and therefore on the constant lookout for cardigans and wraps to add to my wardrobe. I have NOT tried on or SEEN the Wrapped Linen Tie Front Sweater in person (have you?), but at $18.99 with good reviews, and NOT on final sale, I figured why not check it out. I ordered both, in gold and olive, reg $75.00. (HERE)
Figure Out How to Tie It and You Have a Winner
Once I figured out that I could wear this wrap peplum style top with the V in the front or back, the struggle to style it went away. Figure out which way works best for you and this is a flattering layer piece. (HERE)
A Walkable Work Shoe!
The Double Strap Leather Slide in Snakeskin is a go-to work shoe for me. I love the sparkly heel and get compliments every time I wear them. Now almost 60% off at $59.99 (HERE). Ran TTS for me.
The Resume Dress
A J Crew LBD Classic for your work wardrobe, the Resume Dress is now on sale in Ponte (HERE) and select summer colors. In Petite, Tall and Regular – if your size is available and you are in the market for a 9-5 and beyond LBD, at $79.99 the black ponte is a great deal IMO. Note: I don’t recall 100%, but I believe the fabric I am wearing here is gaberdine, not the ponte. Fit should be the same though.
I Can’t Buy it All, But If I Could, This One Would Be On The List!
I know, it’s stripes, but I can’t resist the flattering tie front detail of the Point Sur Tie Front Midi. Another piece that could take us warm weather gals into October. So has anyone tried this one one? It’s darling and it’s now on sale! (HERE)

NEW POST on RickandSuzanneBell.com!
We are often asked about the process and economics associated with purchasing a property for the purpose of tearing down the existing structure and building a new home. As there are virtually no remaining vacant lots in Los Altos, this will most often include the demolition of an existing structure. For today’s article, we have selected 3 recent Los Altos sales where the buyer may have purchased the property for the purpose of tearing down the existing structure and intends to rebuild a new single family home. Awesome sale picks, Suzanne! It’s indeed great that we can wear most “summer clothes” for most of the year around here (with just a layer or two added).
It’s so true! As much as I love to transition to fall, I really don’t pull out my boots and leggings till about November. Layers are so important in this area, I need to always remind myself of that when I am shopping! Hope you are having a wonderful summer…let’s catch up once the BTS craze is over! xx
I love a lot of items there! That color of the bodysuit is so very beautiful!
Thank you Nancy! I do love the body suit! I bought it in olive for the color (it’s a little less yellow than olive, it’s really pretty) but may need it in black as a basic as it would are pretty under a jacket and no wedgie! xx
I really like that bodysuit a lot!!
I have heard from many today that the body suit is their favorite! Such a great layer piece in fabulous colors! Thanks for stopping by! Suzanne
Hi Suzanne, I’ve never had a lot of success shopping the sales…. until recently! I bought a pair of $1,600 leather pants for $300. I’m over the moon about them!! Brenda
