A new season of twists and turns kicked off this week which included #TGIT.
Is anyone else excited for the nighttime drama to begin?
Scandal, The Good Wife, How to Get Away With Murder and State of Affairs all have one thing in common, one bold and powerful leading lady. In constant turmoil she attempts to balance work and complicated relationships, all the while taking on the world in a fabulous wardrobe and a killer pair of heels.
This past week on State of Affairs, President Payton has a plan to get everyone off of her back, Nick is being hunted in the jungle, and Kurt tries to adjust to life on the outside.
Hold up! Back up the bus!
Did anyone catch Katherine Heigl’s (AKA “Charlie”) fabulous All Saints Jacket and Dolce Gabbana suede boots?
Dressed head-to-toe in gray and killer marsala suede boots I thought; forget Nick in the jungle – I need to re-create that outfit!
Let’s take a look:
The asymmetrical jacket which I’m fairly certain is the AIKO Monument Coat via All Saints is a show stopper paired with knee length Dolce Gabbana suede boots.
When the coat came off, it revealed an easy every day outfit of grey skinny jeans, a grey kimono sleeve sweater (her’s had a little sparkle woven in) and a silk v-neck blouse.
I filled in the set below with a similar sweater and jean.
The AIKO jacket and Joie blouse alone will run you $629.00!
(drumroll)… the look for less!
The look above can easily be recreated with 5 basic pieces.
#1 Asymmetrical Gray Jacket
prices ranging from $25.00-$50.00
Click the photos below for complete links to each Polyvore set
If the link says sold out, click through anyway as it usually is not, it is a glitch on the Polyvore site.
I try to only post items that are currently available, in a range of sizes.
I actually was able to try on the Bordeaux knit jacket | on sale at the Nordstrom Rack for $45.00.
It is a bit longer in person than on the model (I am 5’6 for reference).
I am wearing a medium and it was a little big. I would say it runs true to size.
I did have one issue in that the snaps stick together REALLY well. So much so that they are a bit hard to take apart. Not a huge deal, but wanted to mention it.
#2 Skinny Grey Jean
prices ranging from $25.00-$199.00
As I was falling asleep after the show I was thinking,
“I have grey skinny jeans, cognac boots, a grey drapey sweater – I can do this”!

Cut-to my outfit the next day, inspired by Charleston Tucker:
I love that I was able to re-mix my wardrobe and create a fresh new outfit from items already in my closet. I was so thrilled with my new combo I wore my grey jean/cognac boots 2 days in a row – just switched up the top! I thought the grey/cognac boot combo was a lighter feeling version of my standard grey/black boot combo.
This time of year I find myself tiring of my same sweaters. To mix things up I start layering jackets for a lighter look.
I debated between what color handbag to go with, I prefer the cognac colored bag to the black
I’ve got my eye on one of those asymmetrical jackets. I think they are a great transition piece from winter to spring. The key is the neckline, it dresses up your average fleece jacket.
I am seeing the silhouette everywhere so it must be trending and you can get it at every price!
Short sleeve cocoon/kimono sweaters transition easily into spring.
Wear one now with a cozy turtleneck or blouse and later with a maxi dress or maxi skirt.
Can’t wait to see what the inspiring Olivia Pope, Charleston Tucker and Alicia Florrick have in store for us this season!
