Do you own a top or dress you love that sits in your closet unworn? The solution may be as simple as getting the correct bra or foundation to wear underneath. Many of this seasons trends; cold shoulders, high necks, cut away tops, halters, strapless blouses, sheer, boho blouses – the list goes on, all come with a new challenge. What bra do I wear underneath?
Last week I wore a spaghetti strap dress with a bralette. While sitting around the pool, a few of my girlfriends asked what I was wearing under my dress. When I flashed my bralette, they suggested I blog about it – people need to know these things! I have a collection of bralettes in my drawer. I know if I don’t have the correct foundation piece for a certain piece, I simply won’t wear the item. Today’s dress was a fantastic ThredUp find, worn with my Seams Lovely Fence Side Bralette ( one of my faves) picked up at a local boutique in town, Gitane. Pop on over to the Seams Lovely Website for a list of stores near you (HERE). My exact bralette is available at 42Saint.com online (HERE) .One of the reasons I love this particular bralette, is the straps do not look like a bra. For the rest of today’s casual look, I wore my Crew black slides (older), Monserat de Lucca macrame bag (Anthropologie last summer -may be available on Ebay), an Artisan Turquiose necklace and earrings, and beaded bracelets. My ring is from Uno Alla Volta which you can read more about in this weeks Artisan Jewelry Post.
Wardrobe Tip: Take a visit back to your closet. Pull out pieces you love that rarely get worn or still have tags on them. Do these pieces need a foundation piece to make them complete and wearable? Do you want to invest in a foundation? If not, maybe the top or dress is not meant to be. If I love a piece, I say make the investment in the right foundation, otherwise I guarantee you will not wear it. Then the other question becomes, if you won’t wear it, then return it for something you will.
Hope you all had a relaxing 4th of July, here’s to a fabulous week!
XOXO

Thank you Ada! Bralettes are a key pieces for me in the summertime. I am working on a post for next week with more options – all of my favorites! xx
Oh, i had quite a laugh when i tried on bralettes in VS. I love having this shop now to view them. Did you wear a regular bra underneath it? LauriePOP2
LOL! Yes those VS bralettes can be a little challenging. I couldn’t even get a few of them over my head! These I do not wear a bra underneath. I would say the Coobie is the most versatile. THanks for stopping by Laurie! xx
Great tips. I see you also have a lamp beads silver ring from Uno Alla Volta. I love my blue one. But a white one is next on my wishlist. So chic. Thanks for linking up to the Top of the World Style linkup party.
I love the lamp bead ring. It goes with everything and it is so unique! Thanks for the link up ! xx
