Leather to “leather-look” pants, are everywhere this season! Emerging last year as a “fringe” trend, they can now be found, from Barney’s to Gap. Don’t think too hard about this fab trend, and toss your misconceptions of cheesy, out the door. Whether you opt for faux or the real deal – these luxe pants, take your beloved legging or skinny jean look up a notch – day or night.
If you opt for a leather legging, a word of caution; leggings are NOT pants! Leggings look great styled with tunics, a chunky long sweater, longer ponchos and tall boots. Best to keep your bootie fully covered! If you want a more tailored look; opt for a leather pant or jean cut. Luckily, there are ton of options out there – one for every fit and comfort leval!
I love the look of leather pants, paired up with boots or booties. On top? A cozy tunic sweater, cashmere wrap, poncho, cape – you name it.
I’m kicking myself that I didn’t pick up this faux-leather legging from Ann Taylor, when they hit the deep markdown rack, last Spring – guess I wasn’t quite ready.
These are now back for grabs – at $59.50. My girlfriend Kate, had this exact pair on last winter, on a girls night out, with a chunky Vince sweater and tall boots – I thought they looked fantastic.
Available in petite, tall and regular. Was $98.00 Now $59.50 HERE
Reviews are mixed, but remember these are FAUX leather, so of course they are not going to feel like REAL leather – for that you will need to step up the budget a bit!
I rounded up a few of my favorites – from real to faux, let’s take a look:

Paige ‘Verdugo’ Leather Pant $895.00 HERE
What do you think? Will you be trying leather leggings or pants this season? The key is finding a pair with some stretch that is comfortable to sit down and walk around in. There are some fabulous faux styles out there, they key is to avoid any that look or feel like plastic – they will look cheep and be uncomfortable (trust me, I have a pair from H & M from last year, with NO stretch whatsoever. I am considering investing in a better pair this season!)
If leather or faux leather, just isn’t your cup of tea, try a coated jean, like this pair, for a similar look, with the comfort and feel of denim:
Paige ‘Verdugo’ Coated Jean $199.00 HERE
I personally own this pair of coated jeans from Paige. After 2 years of wear and a few accidental trips in the dryer, I am looking for a replacement. That said, the fit and wear on this pair is great. I repeat, NO DRYER. Confirm with your salesperson, when purchasing, on how to care for your pricey coated jeans. I was told to only wipe them clean, (no washer or even hand wash) and store them folded, in a plastic bag, in the freezer, to preserve the wax coating. I will be doing this with any new pair in the future!
Pair coated jeans up with pumps or booties. I also like them paired with tall boots.
A look from a past ASB post, wearing my faux leather pant, purchased at H&M, last winter:
And yes, they feel kinda like plastic, but they were $35.oo and I had a heck of a time tracking a pair down last year. Now they are everywhere! Maybe time to upgrade?
Big sale on now at Boden! Up to 40% off thru next Monday, HERE.
Many of my Fall favorites are now on promo.
