Today’s look was far from spring,
and all about staying dry.
But, I promised you all some wedges for today, so wedges it is. I don’t know about you, but I am so ready to spring forward!
If you missed Wednesday’s spring shoe round-up, click on over to Get Your Kicks On, Spring Shoe Trends, and get up to speed on what’s happening right now, in the world of shoes.
Wedges are always a winning shoe choice; they make us taller, our legs look longer, they work back to just about anything – what more could a girl ask for?
In addition to the wedge sandal we know and love, this year’s update; the wooden platform sandal, has us boho girls oh-so-happy!
One issue I have with a wood platform, is the weight of the actual shoe. So instead, I look for “wood-like” platforms that are lightweight. Who wants to walk around feeling like they’re dragging around lead weights? There are brands like Callisto, Kork-Ease, and others, who make super lightweight platforms, with the look of wood, combined with comfort.
Callisto ‘Buck’ | Nordstrom | $89.95
Kork-Ease ‘Charissa’ | Nordstrom | $174.95
I purchased a pair of Kork-Ease years ago. I still have them, and find them to be super comfortable.
New Spring Wedges:
Row 1: Sam Edelman ‘Camilla’ , NEW MARKDOWN! was $130.00, now $89.90, Nordstrom | Charles David ‘Ames’ Wedge, $99.00, Nordstrom | Dolce Vita ‘Linsey’, $140.00, Nordstrom REVIEWED HERE. Row 2: Michael Kors ‘Josephine’, $150.00, Nordstrom | UGG ‘Fitchie’. $120.00, Nordstrom | Charles David ‘Arlington’, $99.00, Nordstrom. Row 3: Via Spiga ‘Wallis’, $225.00, Nordstrom | Vince Camuto ‘Garden’, $129.00, Nordstrom | Donald Pliner ‘Camdyn’, $248.00, Nordstrom.
Many of these styles, are available in black, along with other colors. To me, a nude color is a must-have. A color close to your skin tone, will go with just about anything, and elongates your leg. I threw in the silver pair as I find metallics are difficult find, and this pair is pretty darn cute!
Want to try a wedge, without breaking the bank?
I came across this pair over at Target last week. No, its not real leather – but it sure works if you are looking to give a wedge a try. And it’s only $29.99!
DV ‘Ella’, also available in black.
This wood platform was not in the store, but is available online:
MUK LUCKS ‘Jill’ | Target | $59.99
While at Target, I came across a few other fab finds I gotta share!
The Kaya (bottom row), is a knock off of the Dolce Vita ‘Anica’ from a past season. The ‘Kensley’, closely resembles the ‘Ayden’. As I recall, these both retailed around $65.00, so this Target find, is a great deal!
Espadrilles
DV ‘Ottie’, in 3 colors (I like the blue/white combo, click link for all 3 colors) | DV ‘Tia’ (also in silver)
How fun is this clutch?
Sam and Libby | $29.99
I am loving the tassel and cute lining. Perfect for a night on the town!
I loved the color combo of this chambray clutch.
MERONA | $16.99
See the cognac in the tassel?
Pair this up with a pair of cognac wedges!
#springready
I’m always on the lookout for a lightweight cocoon sweater, to throw over anything from dresses and denim to joggers. I love Michael Lauren cardigans, which run about $110.00.
This next target buy, reminds me of the Sun & Shadow cardigan over at Nordstrom,
but this card is $22.99 | Mossimo Hacci Cardigan |in 4 colors plus marl (separate link)
KNOX ROSE appears to me, to be Targets attempt to grab the Free People gal. This newer line, has a boho feel, and decent quality for the price. Some of the styles may be more geared toward a younger audience, as is with Free People. If you sort though the racks though, there are some fun pieces for us gals over 40 as well! This poncho caught my eye with it’s neutral colors. It would look great with denim or white denim, paired with a simple white tee and a pair of wedges or lace up sandals.

Have a fabulous weekend!
I know we need the rain, but I am so ready! I always get like this as a season comes to an end. Though I love winter and fall, with my closet all switched out and ready for spring, I am ready to more ahead! Have a great weekend! XO
Hi Suzanne,
Another great post, I have been looking for something similar to the Chaissa shoe that you have featured here, I’m sure I saw something similar on your blog previously and have been looking since as I love them! So far to no avail, due to small feet I haven’t yet been able to find them but I will persist and it’s great to see them on your blog as a little reminder!
Stay dry and please send some rain my way 10 plus days of 30 degrees is a lot!
Kind regards
Helen
So Helen, you won’t believe this! I was in Nordstrom returning the Charles David ‘Ames’ Wedge (which btw is fabulous but too high for me, at 5’7, I felt and was over 6 ft tall, but for someone not my height a great shoe) and picked up the Kork-Ease Chaissia in dark brown. Its a gorgeous vintage brown color but the light color is beautiful as well. I will be featuring it as soon as it stops raining and I can get a few photos. It only comes in whole sizes, so I went with the 8 (I am normally an 8.5). super comfortable and walkable for all day.
Have a great week, and hope you get some rain soon!
XO
Suzanne
What a fun post! A pair of wood platforms are on my spring/summer wish list and finding a pair that are comfy enough to walk around in all day would be a huge bonus. Thanks for the heads up.
Hi Trina! Thanks for stopping by. So I did pick up the Kork-Ease ‘Charissa’ in the vintage brown color yesterday over at Nordstrom. They are super comfortable and light. I did size down. I wear an 8.5 and they only come in whole sizes so I got an 8, the 9 was huge. I plan to wear them with all my jeans, but I really needed the height for my flares. I have not had a chance to play with them in the closet yet to be sure they are keepers with what I own. Stay tuned, I will be reporting back once I get a change to play around with them! XO Suzanne
Great selection, Suzanne! I am in SoCal and we get to wear wedges all year long!! xoxo Zuma
