As the weather starts to warm up and the flowers bloom, I can’t help but get excited about refreshing my wardrobe for spring. While I make sure to have my staple pieces covered, I always love adding a few new items that will enhance my personal style and make me feel confident and fashionable wherever I go.
And why settle for just one opinion when you can have four? That’s why I’ve enlisted the help of my pals Nina, Julie, and Andy to join me in discussing our favorite spring trends and must-haves. We’ve been busy shopping and rounding out our own personal wardrobes for the season, and we can’t wait to share our thoughts on the latest fashion finds. So once you see what I’m excited about out here in Northern California, I hope you hop over to each of their blogs and see what they are talking about.
After all, with four heads put together, we’re sure to have some valuable insights and diverse perspectives on what’s hot for spring!
So grab a cup of coffee or tea and a note pad and let’s talk some style.
My Personal Style Plan
10 Ideas for Updating My Wardrobe this Spring
1. Shoes: Mary Janes vs Trainers
When it comes to footwear this spring, Mary Janes and trainers are two popular styles to consider. Trainers are not only comfortable but also stylish, and finding the perfect pair can elevate your outfit while keeping you comfortable all day long. I happen to LOVE the New Balance 327. On the other hand, Mary Janes are a classic choice that can add a touch of sophistication to any outfit; as long as they work for YOUR lifestyle. Either way, when it comes to shoes, consider investing in a high-quality pair that will last for seasons to come.

2. Dresses for Daytime: Midi Dresses with Trainers
Midi dresses paired with trainers are a timeless and chic combination that’s perfect for spring. While not new to this season, they are much more widely available now, with endless choices of both dresses and trainers in the market. Anthropologie’s Somerset dress is a versatile option that comes in a wide selection of prints, solids, and different fabrications, including extended sizes, making it accessible to all body types.
3. Jeans: A Style for Every Body
Jeans are a wardrobe staple that never goes out of style, and this spring, there’s a denim style for every body type. Whether you like wide legs, crop straight – I love the “Insider Step Crop” jeans by Mother, pictured below and restocked at Nordstrom, available without holes and other washes HERE – flares, high waist, balloon, stretch, or no stretch, there’s a perfect pair out there for you. Levis, Mother, and Citizen are some of my favorite brands offering a variety of stylish denim silhouettes at great prices. Looking to refresh your denim collection? Try browsing Levis, Madewell, Free People, Banana Republic, Anthropologie, and Nordstrom – where they offer in-house alterations.

4. Button-Down Shirt: Classic and Versatile
A crisp button-down shirt is a timeless piece that can be worn with just about anything and can even double as a lightweight jacket. Whether you prefer a classic white, black, denim, or a fun color, investing in a high-quality button-down shirt is a must for any wardrobe. Cuyana and Citizens are two of my favorite brands offering stylish and versatile button-down shirts that can elevate any outfit. Chicos also has a great selection of options, including poplin, stretch poplin, and linen, in regular and tunic lengths, all at great prices and extended sizing.

5. Knit Jumpsuit: Practical and Stylish for Travel
Designed for my lifestyle, I love (THIS) jumpsuit by Cuyana. Not only is it fashionable, but it’s also practical for travel with its wrinkle-resistant and versatile design. Whether I’m jetting off to a new destination or running errands here at home, this jumpsuit is perfect for effortless style on the go. I love how it can be dressed up with heels and statement jewelry for a chic evening look or dressed down with sneakers for a casual day, ready for anything.
This jumpsuit – now available in new colors (love the orange!) for Spring 23 + a short-sleeve version – ran true to size for me.
6. Wrinkle-Resistant Skirt: Stylish and Travel-Friendly
Another travel-friendly item on my list is a wrinkle-resistant skirt. I’ve had my eye on (THIS) one, also from Cuyana, and I can’t wait to try it on. The idea of looking fashionable and put-together without worrying about wrinkles during my travels is so appealing. Plus, the versatile design of a skirt allows for endless outfit possibilities, from pairing it with a blouse for a dressier look to dressing it down with a tank or graphic tee for a more casual vibe.
7. Summer Hat: Stylish Sun Protection
As someone who values sun protection, the Cuyana Foldable Panama Hat is a chic and practical choice for me. Made from high-quality natural straw, it features a wide brim for excellent sun protection. Its foldable design makes it easy to pack for travel, and its adjustable fit ensures comfort. This versatile hat adds elegance to any outfit, making it a must-have accessory for stylish sun-safe looks this spring.
8. Handbag: Stylish and Functional
A handbag is an essential accessory that can complete your outfit and add a touch of style to your look. For spring, consider adding a straw bag, a “fanny pack” for a hands-free option, or a lightweight tote like Longchamp to your collection. These versatile styles are perfect for everyday use and can easily transition from day to night. For a fun yet timeless look, check out the selection of bags from Cuyana, known for their unbranded, simple, classic styling and available in a multitude of styles, sizes, and colors.
9. Update your Sunnies: Stylish Eye Protection
With sunny days ahead, updating my sunglasses is a must for both eye protection and fashion-forward looks. The pair you see me wearing most of the time, a square wire-rimmed style, is the “Hooper” progressive sun readers by CADDIS. The Icons 53mm Retro Sunglasses by Ray-Ban caught my attention as they offer both functionality and style. Featuring a classic design and high-quality lenses, they provide clear vision and protect my eyes from harmful UV rays, making them ideal for outdoor activities. I am also considering a second pair of progressive reader sunglasses like (THIS) pair from CADDIS in a round lens wire style. Note that CADDIS sunnies are also offered in prescription.
I’m excited to invest in a pair that not only offers superior sun protection but also complements my face shape and personal style, adding a trendy and timeless touch to my spring wardrobe.

10. Timeless Elegance: Small Gold Hoops
Small gold hoops are a timeless and versatile accessory that can elevate any outfit. The Bony Levy 14K Gold Small Thick Hoop Earrings are a luxurious choice for those who appreciate high-quality craftsmanship. Made with 14K gold, these hoops feature a thick design that adds a touch of boldness to your look. With their sturdy construction and elegant simplicity, they are a must-have addition to any jewelry collection.

For those who are budget-conscious, Madewell offers a stylish look for less with their Small Chunky Hoop Earrings. These hoops are crafted with attention to detail, featuring a chunky design that mimics the Bony Levy style. Made with gold-tone metal, they offer an affordable yet trendy option for those who want to rock the small gold hoop trend without breaking the bank. Whether you choose the splurge-worthy Bony Levy hoops or the budget-friendly Madewell version, small gold hoops are a classic choice that adds a touch of elegance and sophistication to any outfit.
Wait, there’s so much more!

Hi Suzanne!
I love all of your spring must haves…happy to see that you far exceeded our initial idea of 5 items! LOL I have been looking at those exact sneakers so I’ll definitely have to check them out. Great minds think alike because I recently added a white no iron button down from Chico’s. Love a great jumpsuit that is comfy and travels well! As always, such a fun collaboration! XO
Hey Julie! I have been on the hunt for the perfect trainer and I love these. They are so comfortable and around $100, which I love. they have a little wedge and I love the retro styling. I had seen them on another blogger and searched and searched till I found the right one. I recall you liking the Chicos shirts, and after doing my research, I think that might be the best one, I love that it has stretch. And yes, I am obsessed with this jumpsuit. I want the black one and may get the orange as well, LOL!
