My last outfit of 2016.
Truth be told, I was not planning to wear this outfit on New Years Eve.
The shoes and clutch, yes.
The rest of it, no.
Plan A
Looked something like this…plus some bling.
Problem one, the animal print coat was in my mind, not in my closet. Two, the dress was missing it’s slip – an even bigger issue. Three, it was cold and dreary, and all of the sudden, the whole look, didn’t feel festive enough for New Years Eve – I just wasn’t feeling it. I wanted some sparkle!
Cut to Plan B
Well, I didn’t really have a plan B.
What I did have, was this DVF black wrap dress, clean and ready to hit the town.
Cut way too low for my liking, I had picked up THIS extended length bralettte back in September, which worked perfectly, over a smoothing slip, under the dress. I have a tough time with bralettes, they usually do not provide adequate coverage, especially Free People. This Lace-Trimmed Free People bralette is unique, as it is a longer length (longline), and the bust area is modestly covered. Still available in black and burgundy | Lord and Taylor
This dress also is cut too broad for my shoulders, and I have yet to figure out how to alter it, to get the right fit. Luckily, I had some fashion tape (HERE) on hand. One strip attached to each shoulder, kept this frock in place, straight into 2017.
My black cashmere wrap looked a bit to matronly, as did my black fur cape. This Trina Turk vintage jacket fit the bill with it’s fur cuffs, and silver pattern running though it. It’s trimmed in antique gold beading, which worked perfectly with my antique gold sandals.
I added a pink/antique gold statement necklace from J Crew,
which worked well with the jewel neckline of the jacket, and Alexis Bittar sparkly earrings and bangles.
Phew!
So with a little patience, and a Little Black Dress, disaster avoided…and the perfect outfit for me on NYE!
Shop the look!
Have you had an outfit planned out in your mind, that falls apart last minute?
Do you have a favorite LBD, a go-to, when other outfits don’t quite work out?
Do you keep fashion tape, various bras, “outfit fixers” on hand in the event of a wardrobe malfunction?
I hope you all rang in the New Year with joy, here’s to a fabulous 2017!
XOXO

Thanks for linking up to Top of the World Style. Great little jacket.
Thank you Nicole! I was so happy I got to wear this festive furry jacket. I picked it up on a whim last January at Postmark for $18.00 and it’s been waiting to hit the town since! We had a lot of fun together! XOXO

Thank you Gail! Funny, as much as I think of myself as a planner, especially when it comes to my outfits, at times I do find myself in a style pickle…guess that’s why I keep a clean LBD, Black Sweater Dress and Black Wrap Jumpsuit on hand at all times:) Have a great weekend and thank you for stopping by!
