Each week, Style Me Monday, will feature one item from my closet – styled 5 ways – to get your style wheels turning for the week ahead, and today, I’ve styled up my denim midi skirt.
I wear jeans A LOT, but there are times when I want to mix things up, and that is when I grab my denim skirt. I approach purchasing and styling a denim skirt in the same manner I would jeans.
- Step into your closet; do you prefer high, mid or low-rise jeans?
- What wash of denim do you wear the most?
- Does a midi length work for your height, or would a knee length be more your style?
I prefer a mid-wash with some distressing, a mid rise and midi length. My skirt is from Wash Lab, and if you are interested, there are many different styles to browse over at Nordstrom (HERE), and PRESS HERE for a nice selection – like this one – of mini and midi length skirts at Old Navy. I’ve also linked some great denim skirt options, including some gorgeous pieces from Free People, at the bottom of this post.
For the most part, pieces you wear with jeans, should work well with a denim skirt. Try creating a look with a t-shirt, blouse, sweater or flannel shirt, then layer on a third piece like a cardigan sweater or jacket. Depending on the length of the skirt, have some fun with your shoes. Cowboy boots are spot on trend – see Outfit #3 – and pair easily with a denim skirt.
