Style Over 40 – How I Wear Plaid Tweed Part 2

Earlier this week, I shared one of my favorite looks this season; easy denim paired with a statement tweed jacket and lace. If you missed the Style Post, If You Like it Wear It, you can catch up (HERE). 

Today I grabbed the same tweed jacket, styled up in an entirely new way, to show the versatility an investment piece can offer. Tuesday’s look was more of a date night look, where as today’s style is more daytime or even career.  My navy blue skirt and tee are both from Uniqlo. No joke, I purchased a similar skirt at the MiuMiu Boutique in Paris 18 years ago – splurged, and wore it to death. If I could still get my post-kid body into it, I’d be pulling it out right now and wearing it. Since that scenario is not happening, this paper-bag waist skirt which cost me a whopping $20.00 will have to do. The tee? On sale for $9.99 and if you told me it was more I’d believe you. My shoes are a favorite, found on eBay for $10.00 a very long time ago and I’m happy to point out that they are the most beautiful leopard calf hair – a lighter print of my favorite, that is coming back around in style…and how about that red leather trim? My bag, another blast from the past, at least 18 years old, which I’ve held onto because I could never find a red clutch I liked better.

 

 

Has anyone picked up on the fact I am wearing dark navy blue, not black? Hmm, do I sense a style shift happening here?

Outfit Details

My skirt is from UNIQLO and is called the ‘high waist ribbon skirt’, also available in olive green and khaki. I preferred navy for fall. It’s not available online, but there were quite a few still available when I visited the store at the Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara earlier this week. This is a similar skirt, also on sale (HERE). My ribbed tee is also UNIQLO, $9.99, in 7 colors. For reference, I am wearing a small (HERE). Shoes and bag are vintage. Sunnies, DVF.
