Style Over 40: How to Wear a Slip Dress in the Winter

Right about now I would start to break out my favorite spring pieces, but dang it’s cold! I’d been stalking a certain satin slip dress over at Anthropologie, so when it hit the sale rack I had to pick it up. My vision of styling my new dress with a floral kimono was going to be a bit of a challenge with this chilly weather, so I challenged myself to get creative and come up with a new combo, one I could wear now and not freeze my tail off!

Todays Look: My base layer started with a HEATech Cami from UNIQLO for warmth, followed by a thin long sleeve white layer tee under the slip dress. Warm socks and boots kept my feet cozy and a faux suede jacket wards off the chill. Still chilly? Top the base layers off with a sweater coat, velvet kimono, cashmere wrap or even a military style hooded parka! Add a pair of opaque tights, fingerless gloves and a beanie hat. Keep layering until you reach the necessary warmth for your climate.
