Today was the perfect fall day; a cloudy mid 60’s high with a little breeze to toss the leaves around…you bet I had a kick in my step! Feeling a bit of denim overload from the past few weeks, today seemed like the perfect day to pull on my ribbed cashmere skirt and booties. A multi-tasking skirt, I opted to pair her up with one of my favorite knit staples, a bell sleeve cashmere pullover. This cool weather uniform can be worn multiple ways. Simply add a faux fur vest, plaid or printed scarf, topper, blazer, cape or wrap…the possibilities are endless! Going with today’s cozy theme, I opted to add a fur infinity scarf that I picked up a few weeks ago at the Cashmere Sale in Burlingame.
Why Have a Few Uniforms on Hand?
Having a few ensembles like the one I wore today can make getting out the door each morning painless. If you travel for work or often, everyday uniforms make packing painless. I strive to assemble a few basic uniforms each week, as to not get hung up in the “I have nothing to wear” moment that can occur when we don’t plan ahead.

Great Post! I’m going to check my closet for those staples… such a great idea!
Hi Amy! Thank you for stopping by!I was inspired to put this post out when I myself was having a difficult time pulling it together this week. Making sure we have the basics is key..adding the sprinkles comes after. Unfortunately I love shopping for the sprinkles! LOL!
xx Suzanne
I have lots of sprinkles!!! But they need to go on after the basics are out of the oven or closet in this case. I am going to put those 5 basics together this morning and hang them in plain sight…I already know I need new almond toe black basic booties…thanks for the motivation!
Of course, the sprinkles are more fun. But you can’t add sprinkles if you don’t first have a cake to put them on, LOL! I’d love to hear how it goes when you set out a few basic looks, and if it helps you get out the door quicker, on those days when you are not feeling your usual creative self! xx
This post is so useful to me. I took a screenshot of the five uniform basics and the five add-ons. I have a closet full Of clothes but nothing to wear. ?
Hi Cindy! I am so happy to hear you found the post to be useful. We’ll be talking more about this idea here on AskSuzanneBell, so stay tuned! try creating a few uniforms this week and try mixing in a few pieces you love from your closet. another reason our closets can look full is when we have too many closet orphans – items we have purchased, but don’t work back to other pieces in our closets.Good luck this week! xx
Totally love the fur scarf! I have one and have worn it way more than I thought I would!
Thanks for linking up with the Ageless Style Party!
