When the temperatures drop, jeans are my go-to for warmth and comfort, but sometimes I need a break from denim. If you feel the same, there are plenty of cozy, stylish bottoms to try that will keep you warm and refresh your look. Whether you’re running errands, working, or hanging out, here are 8 – my personal favorites – alternatives that offer movement, pair easily with flats, boots, or sneakers, and add flexibility to your winter wardrobe. Faux Leather Leggings (Lysse) Faux leather leggings are sleek and edgy, perfect for pairing with oversized sweaters or long coats. Dress them up with a pair of low-heeled ankle boots or go casual with a fun pair of sneakers or loafers.
Wide-leg Pull-on Track Pants (Sweaty Betty) For a relaxed yet stylish look, wide-leg track pants offer both comfort and a polished vibe. Try wearing them with a fitted turtleneck, tank or tee, topped off with a cropped jacket, blazer, or cardigan for balance. A sneaker is a natural pairing, but try pairing your track pants with something like a kitten heel mule to add some contrast and interest.
Pleated Midi Skirt (Mango | J. Crew) Pleated midi skirts bring elegance and movement to any winter outfit. Tuck in a slim-fit sweater and add knee-high boots for a chic, layered look or one of my favorites, a chunky sweater and a lug sole boot, heeled bootie, or kitten heel.
Satin Midi Skirt (J. Crew) Satin midi skirts add a touch of luxury. Style them with a cozy knit sweater and heeled boots for a perfect mix of soft textures and structure or dress this luxe skirt way down with a fun oversized hoodie and kitten heels or a loafer for a fun and unexpected look.
Ribbed Knit Midi Skirt (Open Edit, Nordstrom) For warmth and comfort, the ribbed fine-gauge sweater knit midi skirt is ideal. Pair it with a matching knit top – like this blousson sweater in the same fabrication | colors – or layer with a long cardigan and boots for a cozy, monochromatic ensemble.
Nylon High-rise Trousers (Athleta) Nylon high-rise trousers are practical and stylish, offering a modern silhouette. Wear them with a fitted sweater and loafers for a sleek, professional look or a fitted tee, an oversized blazer, and sneakers.
Faux Leather Joggers (Evereve) For a mix of casual and edgy, faux leather joggers are a great option. Style them with a tucked-in graphic tee and a blazer, or opt for a chunky knit for an elevated casual look. For casual days a sneaker will always be a win, but try this pant on with a loafer, kitten heel mule or Mary Jane for some interesting contrast.
Wide-leg Pants (Anthropologie | KUT | FRAME Jetset) Wide-leg pants bring a relaxed yet tailored feel to winter outfits. Whether you choose a coated finish or classic pull-on black or denim, these pants pair well with cropped sweaters, fitted tops or knits, and a topper of your choosing, to highlight their voluminous shape.
