It’s unusual for me to purchase a piece at full-price, the minute it hits the sales floor – especially over at Anthropologie. You may recall me posting on the Solstice dress back in June with my other Anthropologie dress reviews HERE.
As much as I loved the dress, I didn’t pull the trigger at the time, and instead purchased the Morgan Trench (styled up here).
A week or so went by, and I decided to return 3 sale pieces I had previously purchased and not worn, in exchange for the Solstice dress – still at full price. I know, but that’s how much I loved this dress!
*PS take 20%off full price this weekend at Anthro!*
I imagined styling the dress with these shoes, and piling on some Alexis Bittar frosting.
Ok, where did I think I was going?
Yes, these DVF Rinimi lace-up sandals are FABULOUS, and I did get them on sale at Haute Look (HERE); but what wedding, tea, brunch or special event did I think I was wearing them to? This can happen when you purchase for your “fantasy life” and not your everyday lifestyle. Sometimes I need to be reminded; I am a mom, living in suburbia, who vacations at the beach, and on a lake – not a socialite in NYC; with more events to attend, than I have clothes to wear them to.
#lovetheseshoes!
Cut-to, with the vision for the dress as described; it has sat with the tags on, in my closet, for the last few weeks.
But, I love it.
The colors, the neckline, the cut, the length – its so silky and comfortable.
With no rooftop cocktail event in sight, I decided this dress could also be worn casual – heck, the catalog styled it with flip flops!
My real life: Italian dinner with the family in the kitchen of Buca di Bepo on a Saturday night; it was time to cut off the tags, and break out the dress!
Knowing it was going to be a chilly, later in the evening,
I grabbed my Anthro Morgan Trench (linked and reviewed HERE).
And layered on some Alexis Bittar bling.
I knew an ice-cream stroll would follow dinner, so walking shoes were a must – I didn’t want to be hobbling along miserably.
My Paul Green’Hana’ lace-up sandals fit the bill.
Truth be told, I think they look just a little heavy with the dress;
so the following day, I tried the dress on with my Michael Kors toe-ring sandals.
And Dolce Vita Lyndon Sandals (HERE)
Which shoe do you prefer?
Have you ever bought something, for an occasion in your “fantasy life”?
Do you find it difficult to shop for your “real life”?
So how about the DVF coral lace-ups? Are they keepers? Cute on at date night with denim?

I think it’s easy to buy things for your fantasy life. i try to stay away from very dressy items since they just don’t fit into my life.
the dress looks great and works very well casually styled. I love your “fantasy” shoes!
Hi Andrea! It is hard, I think because pieces that fit my fantasy life are just so pretty and fun! ? And, the items that fit my regular lifestyle, well, a bit more basic. I think that’s why I love accessories-to add a little kick to my everyday style! xx
The toe ring sandals are my fav! Of course that’s more my style anyway along with being tall, I just don’t wear heals that much. But I do love the orange lace up sandals!
Hi Michelle! And to think I almost passed on those toe ring sandals over at Nordstrom Rack! I’ve grabbed them more times than I can count, since I bought them! The orange sandals are still in the box, I have about 30 more days to decide if they are keeperS-but I do love them! xx
Wow – gorgeous dress and well worth the strategies! : > Thanks for sharing with Vis Monday. xo

I wear my fantasy clothes in an everyday basis out shopping, movies, library, etc. Life is too short to not wear the pretty things. LOve how yOu styled this pretty dress.
HI Robyn! I like the way you think! I try to apply that thought process, but struggle at times feeling too dressed up – but I guess all that matters is that we each feel great in whatever we wear. #wearwhatyoulove!
Thank you for stopping by! XO
I can see why you love this dress–it’s gorgeous!! You look amazing in it too 🙂

Super, all looks super on you, especially love those sandles – what eye candy! I class them as ‘car to bar’ can’t walk in high heels for long nowadays! Lol Great to meet up.
