Have you been to Zara lately? Let me tell you, if you are looking a few spot-on-trend pieces, to spice up your summer look, it’s worth a stop. From stripes to appliqués, fringe and frayed denim to fun slides and accessories – there are great pieces to check out! For around $200, I picked up a darling stripe appliqué crop jacket with bell sleeves (yes, a lot of trend in one piece HERE), convertible coral stripe blouse (HERE), white fray hem jeans (HERE), chambray appliqué tunic, and todays stripe ruffle hem maxi dress ($25.90, here). There was so much more, but I was trying to keep to the $200 budget I had set, for a few new trend pieces to mix in with my summer wardrobe.
Today’s dress is one of those pieces you may not bother to pick up – but it’s the piece you grab when you are running out the door in and want to look a bit chic. Available in black, red (love!) and stripe, this dress ran true to size for me. I loved that it was not tight and I could wear my everyday undergarments with it – nothing tricky required! Bonus? It has pockets! I’ve already worn it with wedges, flat sandals, and flip flops. Paired with a denim jacket, statement necklace as well as a long tassel necklace. Today, I paired it with Pedro Garcia wedges (super comfortable!), balanced out with a black statement necklace – tying the heaviness of the shoe to the whole look. A black straw hat or large bag would create the same balanced effect. I have a love/hate relationship with stripes, so I mixed in an Anthropologie tribal print tote for color and interest. When pattern mixing, just tie in a few of the colors from each piece. This will will bring your outfit together and you’ll be good to go!

Zara is killing it this month. Stopped by the store in NYC last week and had to leave with the striped applique jacket but I could have easily left with more pieces.
Hey Freya! First off, I have to say, I’m a bit jealous you were just in NYC. I love that Zara store, it’s huge! So did we get the same jacket? I ended up in ZARA a few weeks ago, specifically because a friend of mine had bought that jacket as well and was going on how I had to get in and check it out! I hope to see it on you!

I just love stripes with white accessories…so fresh for summer..makes me wanna pay a visit to Zara…always find something i like there….
Hi Cyndy! Yes, you need to pop in. Sometimes I go and find nothing, but there was some great stuff right now. I did link the coral stripe blouse in this post if you want to check it out – the one I was wearing the other day. Would love to see what you find!

Hello SUZANNE, just had to let you know how much i love this dress on you. In fact, it looks so nice i had to order oNe for myself!!!!!!!!! Cant wait to receive it. Continue to provide us with great inspiration and looks.
Hi Connie! Yay! Happy to help! Zara is one of those stores that I find to not be very user friendly, so when I find a few cute things that stand out, I love to share. I hope you like the dress. It is so comfortable and easy to wear, I find I keep grabbing it…I am even thinking about ordering the red I like it so much. It’s great for the pool or beach as well!
Have a great weekend!

You always look fantastic, but apologizing to fast fashion stores? i just can’t support stores like that. I’m not a crusader by any means, i’m just surprised to see you as one who shops at h&m, etc…
Hi Joni! Thank you for your comments and for stopping by! Though I don’t shop H&M or ZARA often, I do pop in on occasion as they do tend to provide great forward trend inspiration. As you know, I am a huge supporter of second hand style, I always try to buy second hand first. That said, if one is looking for a trend piece, it may not always be available in a second hand market – and places like ZARA, H&M, Target, ASOS, etc may have that unique piece one needs to complete a look without having to break the bank on a designer piece. So on Occasion I will buy a piece that I can work in with my wardrobe – when I am looking for an on-trend look. For example, I purchased the coral and white stripe blouse, such a unique piece, that I wore this week with a thrifted white linen jacket. In need of a pop of color, I found a yellow top at thredup this week to pair with my ZARA stripe jacket. I don’t like to over pay for fast fashion, and since the second hand market is at least a season behind, I will pick up a few pieces here and there to create the current look I am after, and then create the look from pieces I have collected from all over the market.
Thank you for stopping by and sharing your thoughts…Have a great weekend! xx
I love that dress! As you know, im quite the fan of striPes. 🙂 thanks fOr the tip about sandals and jewelry too. XO!
Hi Katrina! I think of you when I wear stripes or see polka dots! I added the shoe tip because I ORIGINALLY set out on this day with no necklace and a army green utility jacket – and felt something was off. The LIGHTNEss of the dress, needed something on top to balance out the black shoes. What I really wanted was a black tassel necklace, but since I don’t own one (LOL) I dug into the closet and pulled this one out of the archives. I think a big black summer hat or black crossbody bag would do the balancing trick as well! I think this dress would look great with red sandals as well.
Hope you are enjoying this first weekend of summer! xx
What a great all-summer-long dress, Suzanne – and you are owning it. Wonderful simmer look! xo
