From what I’m reading and the low-down on control-top leggings, to my latest HBO obsession and five new family-friendly recipes to try, welcome to an all-new edition of this week’s top 5 blog favorites!
Overnight, the weather here shifted from Indian Summer to Winter, prompting me to quickly switch out my closet, bring out the sweaters, boots, and leggings. A winter wardrobe workhorse, (THESE) Ponte leggings from Lysse, with built-in tummy panel, are worth every penny and continue to be a favorite of mine. I’ve had this same pair for 4 years and they still are dark black (I wash mine in cold, no dryer) without any pills or sagging. When I want an alternative to black leggings, I reach for my (THIS) denim pair. And if you are looking for a little sass for daytime or date night, I think Lysse’s faux leather leggings are the best (PRESS HERE). I also want to mention that Lysse has added pants to their legging selection at Nordstrom. I just purchased (THIS) pair of plaid tie waist wide-leg crops, an instant wardrobe update for my closet. For reference, I wear 4 or 27/28 in jeans and purchase a small in all my Lysse bottoms (PRESS HERE to browse all Lysse bottoms at Nordstrom).

If you loved Big Little Lies, HBO’s The Undoing from creator David E. Kelley and Susanne Bier is one not to miss! Starring Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, this new psychological thriller focuses on a successful therapist, Grace Fraser (Kidman), along with her husband, Jonathan (Grant), and their young son (Noah Jupe), who attends an elite private school in New York City. A chasm opens in her seemingly perfect life: a violent death, a missing spouse, and, in the place of a man Grace thought she knew, only a chain of terrible revelations. Based on the book, You Should Have Known (Awaiting my order! PRESS HERE); read more at HBO.com (HERE).
Aside from being just a little obsessed with every outfit and coat wore by Nicole Kidman in The Undoing – yes, I may have been googling “Grace Fraser Green Coat” post-episode 2, I’ve been obsessed with lug sole boots and wedge mules. I think either style pair perfectly back to casual or dressy joggers, jeans, skirts, dresses, and crop pant styles. I just ordered The 60’s Boot from Hasbeen’s (Sold out) (SIMILAR HERE), along with (THIS, SALE!) mule from Cordini, to elevate my shoe game this winter. If you are in the market for a new pair of kicks, check out Nordies – I could not believe the deep discounts being offered this week. To browse all Nordstrom sale boots and shoes (PRESS HERE).

After reading a review of the book, How Not to Wear Black, by Kim at Northern California Style, I immediately ordered a copy – if not for anything, the title intrigued me. Less about how not to wear black, this book is a wonderful guide on closet editing, living with less, and how TO wear black – not in the Fashion Buyer 90’s Street Style (my clothing buyer friends know what I’m referring to here), but how to reimagine black (and navy, brown and grey) as staples in your wardrobe – and how to maximize the pieces you love in your closet. A must-have guide for anyone looking to reflect on their own style choices and amp up their style game (PRESS HERE | AMAZON).
As head Lunch Lady, I’ve had to dig deep in order to keep the meal offerings healthy and fresh around the home. This week I tried out a few new recipes – here are the top 5 Bell Household Faves. The Black Friday early bird promos are already showing up in my inbox – with sales popping up left and right. Will the discounts get bigger? Probably. But if you see something you just can’t live without, you may want to pick it up now. For example, the 60’s boot I purchased earlier this week from Nordstrom disappeared from view almost immediately after I entered my credit card. PRO TIP: If you are looking to add a few new pieces to your wardrobe OR shop gifts for friends and family, I suggest adding items to your cart now. That way, when a promo code you can’t pass up, lands in your inbox, you will be ready to go!
Till next week…stay safe, stay warm, stay cozy,
