How much fun can be packed into 24 hours?
A lot, when it’s Vegas style!
This past week, 3 girlfriends and I flew to Las Vegas – to celebrate a dear friend’s birthday, and attend the opening night of Jennifer Lopez, at Planet Hollywood.
We literally flew in; for an outdoor lunch and cocktails, on the golf course at The Wynn Country Club,
checked in at the Bellagio,
toured a few spots, freshened up, headed to Olives Bellagio for drinks and a snack,
then over to Planet Hollywood to try to catch a glimpse of a few celebs (we did see J. Lo’s sister, and Justin Bieber’s hat),
watched a fabulous show.
All my concert photos were blurry. If you want to check out some fantastic photos from the opening night at Planet Hollywood, go on over to Instagram, and check out #JLOVEGAS
We then popped back over to Hyde Bellagio. Slept 5 hours, hit a 6:45am yoga class (you don’t get a photo of that!), coffee and breakfast,
then back on the plane for home.
Phew!
We had a fabulous time celebrating, and are now all settling back to reality.
We all loved the show. Even if you are not a fan of J. Lo’s music, the show is worth seeing for the costumes, dance and special effects!
Anyone else watching Shades of Blue, starring Jennifer Lopez?

I paid the city a visit last May, you can read more about my prior trip in this ASB post HERE
and for what to wear poolside, HERE
Prior to leaving town, I was really stumped what to pack. Since we were going to be in and out, the plan was carry-ons for the flight. I only needed one outfit, for the evening dinner and show. So what to wear?
The consensus of the group, was jeans and a cute top.
Sounds easy.
Not.
Especially not, when I don’t own a fun, out-on-the-town top/jacket combo. I know you don’t believe me, but it’s true. I have tons of bottoms. Lots of sweaters, tees, jackets for work, and casual jackets.
What I wanted to wear, was a fun sassy sleeveless top, a crop black jacket, with my flare jeans.
My vision was something like this:
What I actually wore:
Luckily, I had this LBD to throw in the suitcase.
Look familiar?
Read all about the story with this dress, in this ASB post HERE
Now, I styled it a bit differently than I had a few weeks ago. This time with booties, a studded bag, gunmetal jewelry and a funky belt – it all worked out fine.
We all got to talking though, about sassy, night-out outfits, and I realized that this is a void many of us have.
Why?
Its not a look most of us need, day-to-day. That said, it’s nice to have at least one outfit – when needed, to grab and go.
It’s actually a quite simple look, to pull together.
All you need is:
a black jacket
a fun, flattering, flowy top
pair these 2 pieces with denim, leggings, or a midi skirt + accessories and shoes and off you go!
I was headed over to my local Nordstrom store today, to return a REALLY large scarf, that I had ordered over the holidays.
While getting my coffee, I spotted these two gorgeous gals, both Nordstrom employees.
Meet Sumaira and Gigi, from Nordstrom Cosmetic Department in Palo Alto, CA.
Sumaira works at Dior, and Gigi at MAC.
Both were wearing easy pieces, that work into the evening.
Thanks for letting me share your fab looks ladies! xx
While upstairs at Nordstrom, in the TBD department, I had a chance to try on THIS jacket from Trouve,
which I had seen online – now on sale for $59.90 | in winter white and black.
It may run a tad small. I am wearing a small here, but the arm is a little tight. I wouldn’t size up, as I think the shoulders would be too big.
I would say the small, is equivalent to a 4, not a 6.
When shopping for a jacket to wear outside of work, I look to where it hits me on the hip, and how it works with flowy tops.
Does the jacket add shape, or look boxy?
Does it fit in the shoulders, and is it flattering in the waist?
TBD had some cute tops to try on as well:
Ella Moss | Wearing an XS here, I would need this in a small | HERE
NOW ON SALE! 40% off | was $118.00, now $70.80
this top was the most bra friendly, also available in a wine color.
Ella Moss | small here, true to size.
This style was cute as well, HERE
Trouve | I am wearing a medium here, but I would probably buy this in a small as the arm holes were a bit big. This top was racerback bra friendly as well. If in between sizes, perhaps size up. You can read review on this top as well, on Nordstrom.com.
also available in solid black HERE | now $40.80
I ordered THIS ONE,
from Cupcakes and Cashmere. It is sold out online, but my salesperson was able to find my size at another Nordstrom store and ship it to me. Stay tuned for reviews.
Here are a few more fun tops I found, while looking around online:

Sounds like you had a great time in Vegas! You all look fabulous!
Hi Andrea! It was really fun. I love Vegas – for a quick trip. 2 days max 🙂 The J Lo show was fantastic and I always love a visit to Olives at the Bellagio! Have a great weekend!
All yoiu girls looks cute enough to be JLO back up dancers…Las Vegas never disappoints..I always think I have just the right outfit for an occasion , but it depends on how often the occasion comes around…like a raincoat that I do not have at all right now and it is finally raining!
Thank you Cyndy! I think I usually have an outfit ready as well, but it’s those random occasions that throw me – like the rain, LOL! I just this year bought a rain coat, I don’t know if I ever have owned a stylish rain coat – but I did this year. Kept the tags on for a month and almost returned it – so happy I didn’t! Have a great weekend! XO
You all looked gorgeous in Vegas! What a fun girls’ trip! Let’s grab all the bloggers and go, right?! 😉
