We’ve been talking Closet Goals this past week, and today we get to see them in action!
A Workable Closet That Reflects Your Unique Style
Read how to achieve a workable, curated closet in the post, “How to Look and Feel Your Best Self Everyday” (HERE)
Then, learn how to unveil your true personal style in the post, “Uniquely You: How to Find Your Style” (HERE)
So why even bother with these things?
For me, an organized, well curated closet, is the first step to saving valuable time. By only looking at items I love, that love me back, getting ready each day can be a joy, instead of a big headache. As for personal style, if we understand what makes us tick, creating looks that reflect our individuality become simplified. As a result, we feel confident and beautiful – each and every day.
Which closet below, has a higher probability of success?
This is my uber-chic girlfriends closet, before and after we purged it. She has some of the most gorgeous pieces, and exudes some of the most authentic personal style, of anyone I know. But as we well know, life gets busy and $#!& happens – closet on the left. Cut-to the reason it is important to give our closet some love. I will add, these photos were taken 2 years ago. She has maintained her closet since then. Sometimes we just need a kick start!
Weekly Outfit Planning
Each week I plan out my outfits. Only 4 looks, as I never really know where life is taking me. My back-ups, are created from tried and true pieces that I can count on, who work well together.
How My Workable Closet, Loved Me Back Today
Today I wasn’t feeling it for tried and true. It’s days like these, when we can get into trouble – if we need to get out the door at a certain time.
Not today.
Today, was a piece of cake!
I glanced at my favorite things, and this DVF wrap dress jumped out at me. I grabbed it. Wanted to wear it. Now. Today.
Um, it’s rainy and cold. I’ve only worn this dress out to dinner, or to a luncheon. Never for daytime.
But I love a challenge!
Here’s how I changed it up for lunch with a friend, a few errands, running the kids around town, and working at home.
You all know I love me a long sweater. I’ve come to understand, this is a part of my Signature Style. This fringe vest broke up the pattern of the dress, added warmth, and took away the boldness of the print – a print I would not usually wear head-to-knee, for daytime.
I’ve worn this dress with pumps, tall boots and booties; always with a bare leg. Well people, it was cold today – out came the tights.
I added these vintage brown boots, not sure why, I was just feeling it.
I pulled a leather cross out of the archives (oh, how I love a vintage cross!), stacked on some rings, added a few of my favorite bead bracelets – all adding to the daytime look I was after.
Voila!
Comfortable, warm, and a change from the denim I’d been wearing all week…which you can check out on my Instagram Feed @AskSuzanneBell (HERE)

Your Thoughts
Before I go, I want to share a few of this week’s readers comments. I loved hearing how each of you approach your closets and style. Thank you for sharing!
Bonbara says: I have a Pinterest Style Board, where I only allow pins that contain one thing I actually own (and love). Then, I can see what new pieces I might add to my wardrobe next time I’m shopping, to better use what I have.
LauriePop says: I loved the idea to tear out any page (or piece of clothing) that you like-don’t ask why; just doing it. That gives me a visual for when I’m in my closet. Read more on creating a Pinterest Style Board in this post (HERE)
Andrea @WellnessNotes: Only wearing things that make us feel our best is so important. I bought a lot less last year, and that has actually helped me re-evaluate a lot of items in my closet. I purged quite a bit, but there are still items that don’t get worn very much – sometimes that’s okay as I enjoy wearing them when I do, but they may not work very well – most of time because of my lifestyle. But since I have very limited closet space, I still have to deal with them somehow…
