How do you know, a new purchase is a winner?
The minute you take it out of the box, your heart skips a beat, and you can’t wait to wear it!
Sounds obvious, but it’s really not.
I have a girlfriend, who whenever I make a new purchase says, did you take the tags off? Listen, if something that can be worn for everyday – sits in your closet for over a week, untouched, still in the box – some re-evaluation must take place. The clothing universe is speaking to you, you should listen.
Last night, this was waiting for me on my front stoop:
Fast, right? I ordered this at the Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale on Tuesday, that’s some quick shipping! If you missed it (like my girlfriend, who read my sale round-up, but somehow blinked over this one, you can read Wednesdays sale posting HERE – which includes this dress as well as a slew of other Nordstrom Sale picks).
Needless to say, I knew if I liked the fit – this dress was a keeper.
Drop waist, love the color, fray hem details, comfortable style and soft – love!
I couldn’t wait to give my new dress a spin this morning. I can imagine so many ways to style this simple shift dress.
Here’s a look at how I wore it today.
Styled with my Michael Kors animal print tote.
Gorjana gold pendant necklaces and earrings.
Read more on Gorjana, in this Ask Suzanne Bell post HERE
I love pockets!
This dress works with everything from flip flops and wedges to peep toe booties and espadrilles. I chose to pair it today with the ‘Lyndon’ Sandal from Dolce Vita, now on sale at Nordstrom.
For reference I am wearing a size 1 (small). I usually take a 4 or 6 in a dress.

Looking for more Memorial Day Weekend sales?
I’ve updated my side-bar on my home page, which now includes a list of many of this weekends sale happenings and promos. As far as Nordstrom, the full round up can be found in Wednesdays Post HERE.

I want to mention, J Crew is offering 30% off your entire purchase and 50% off final sale items. I love that most of the offerings are not on final sale as this bugs me. I hate when I can’t return or exchange something. You may have noticed that I don’t regularly review J Crew. Why? Sadly, the fit is off for me. With my narrow shoulders and short waist – J crew and I don’t always get along. But today you are in luck. My daughter likes J Crew, and while replenishing her denim shorts and vintage tanks, I had a chance to peek around.
A few of my J Crew faves, all at least 30% off. Many items are 30-50% off the already reduced sale prices.
How do you know when an item is a keeper?
Do you have a time frame, where if you have not worn a new piece, it goes back?
Anyone else love, a care-free shirt dress for summer?
Hope you all enjoy the long weekend – I’m off to BBQ and eat some cherry pie.
And, I think I’ll just live in my new dress all weekend!
XOXO
