If you’ve been following along, you know I have been gearing up for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, which for cardholders was available to shop starting yesterday, 7/9. Early Access for Nordstrom cardholders continues through 7/16, with the sale opening to the public to shop on 7/17. What’s unique about the Anniversary Sale is, markdowns are temporary, on brand new fall merchandise and will get marked up to regular price on August 3, 2015. If you missed my musings on the sale, picks from the catalog and how I shop this sale in particular, check out this post HERE, from Saturday.
This year, my plan of attack was a bit foggy, as I was going to be out of town, and unsure of when I’d be returning. A few girlfriends were meeting up at the Ebar when the store opened Thursday – I was unsure if I would make it. I had scanned the catalog as soon as it arrived, marked what I liked and made a list:
Kids athletic shoes for school
Kendra Scott Rayne Pendant in the turquiose/gunmetal combo
Replace a few pairs of Hanky Panky panties
Check out the denim offerings and Zella athletic wear
Culottes for work
An investment topper for work – either a sweater or jacket
Black Pumps and check out Charles David leopard pump
I arrived home from Lake Tahoe, late Wednesday night. Cranky kids, weeks of laundry, no groceries – you get the picture. My sale shopping with girlfriends was not shaking up to look like this:
Unable to sleep, I hit the sale with other after-midnight online shoppers.
I ordered the Kendra Scott ‘Rayne’ Pendant in turquiose, a fabulous DVF long leopard print cardigan (it had me at leopard), which if the fit is right, you will be seeing a lot of on the blog – so I hope y’all like it. Hanky Panky retro panties (pricey so I buy a few each sale, I love them!) and the “Cropped Straight” frayed ankle jeans featured in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale catalog from Current Elliot – done, now I can sleep!
I woke up the next morning, did a yoga video, sent a text to my girlfriend, letting her know I would not be making the 9:55am Ebar meet-up as my kids were still asleep. I proceeded to order the Vince Camuto culottes and Halogen long cardigan to try on when I got to the store (love that pick up in store feature on nordstrom.com!)
After a very slow morning, the kids and I took off to the mall – fueled by Panda Express and Chipotle (yes, we hit two different lunch places – #donotjudge, you know you’ve been there) and finally hit Nordstrom, where there was NOWHERE to park. So people, the word is out, so much for early access quiet sale…no, it was BUSY! We grabbed my pick-up order, then snapped a few photos for you all in Fashion Jewelry.
Though I purchased the turquoise/gunmetal Kendra Scott pendant, the purple is really striking. For all sale Rayne Pendants, click HERE
These Nordstrom Brand oval hoops are a real steal at $15.90. They look like they are Gorjana, but priced way less.
Next up, BP shoes for my daughter; Nike’s – check! Then, upstairs for my son’s shoes – no luck. Over to BP for my daughter, she found one cute top as the rest were too long for her, not Nordstrom’s fault, she’s a tweener. Now, Mom’s turn. With the wheels already coming off the bus, but a promise of cookies and lemonade if we could just try on my culottes and jeans – I worked my way through TBD, Savvy, Via C, Trend Accessories and Lingerie faster than a speeding bullet, two kids in tow.
Here’s a look at my favorites:
My kids loved the jeans. For me, they ran true to size. The culottes are a great buy for the price, but just didn’t fit me right. The 4 was too tight in the rear and the 6 too baggy. If you can get these to fit you – with a pair of fun heels, these are a great fall investment.
My kids spotted this TopShop cardigan as we wear racing through Savvy. “Mom, this looks so like you”! How could I not try it on?
Hands down, kids voted for TopShop, which for me ran a bit big. I usually wear a 6 in TopShop and bought the size 2 (mostly from not paying attention). When I got home though, I realized I wanted it to fit a bit more like the catalog photo so I ordered a 4. The Halogen long cardigans are nice, but I would worry about the black fading it has cotton in it, which was the color I was after. I wanted this to be a sweater that I could wear for work and it wasn’t substantial enough for that purpose. As a throw-on, in another color is a great cardigan, and update to cardigans of the past. Ran true to size. Since I have the DVF leopard one on the way, for casual I went with this one from TopShop (pictured here in a size 2) HERE
I also liked these items:
I love this cardigan, it is soooo soft and rarely goes on sale. These make great gifts for yourself and to give! The blankets are on sale as well. My favorite is the blue stripe, but I love them all – I wear mine every day of the year! For all Barefoot Dreams robes and cardigans – on sale click HERE. For blankets and throws, click HERE
My favorite leggings are all on sale for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!
My Zella ‘live in’ capris are two years old – no that is not a typo. I workout, wash, dry, wear them multiple times a week and they still look great! I think the ‘Inspire’ capri is a great lounge pant and I know many gals in the fashion world who swear by the high waist Zella legging as a regular legging with sweaters etc. over the Hue. I like them both, depends what you are after. One is lightweight and the other is thick and holds it all in.
I bought this Ella Moss Maxi dress from Nordstrom last fall and love it.
I love the fit and quality. It must be a winner as it is being offered up on the Anniversary Sale in a new print for fall 2015.
Leather Jackets at great prices!
I snapped a few pics for you over in shoes.
My Mom was shopping the sale and texted this photo to me. She bought 2 pairs and said they were really comfortable. She did say they ran a bit large, which I noticed it notes on Nordstrom.com as well. If unsure, you may want to order 2 sizes if you are in between.
Ivanka Trump – I love these in black leather for work with their walkable heel.
in and out in less than 2 hours!
And, by the time I got home,
I’ll be sure to update you all as I find more great pieces or new items pop on my radar.
It is a big sale and I have more picks on last Saturdays post HERE
