Unusually cold out in these parts, January was all about layering. After a post-holiday mini closet cleanse, I challenged myself to create a few new looks to keep me going through grey skies and rain. Being many of you are still experiencing some chilly winter weather, I thought I would share a few cold weather/transitional looks, in the event you are in need of a little style inspiration to get you through till spring. Something for everyone, I’ve rounded up looks styled around denim, leggings, dresses, and a few not-so-basic work essentials.

My January Musings:
When I take a look at my closet, and all of it’s quirkiness, it’s interesting what it is that I really wear day to day. By taking photos and creating a style diary say on Instagram, it is easy to see which pieces get full rotation in my closet and are worth spending my clothing budget on. For me I splurge on premium denim, cashmere knits, comfortable everyday boots, large handbags (but not clutches – I look for those second hand) and dresses in black for work – all items I wear time and time again. Where do you invest your shopping dollars? Have you identified those items that you wear time and time again?
