Does the thought of pattern mixing, accessorizing, and bright colors get you excited; or does the thought of it all, make you want to crawl up in a ball and hide?
I get it, it’s easy to wear black, navy and grey – heck, I do it all the time! But, wouldn’t it be kinda fun to mix things up a bit? Get out of the basic rut?
When I found this DVF dress over at Poshmark for $40.00, I knew I had to have it.
I love each and every one of the cheery bright colors; and, well it’s a DVF – at $40.00, what did I have to lose?
Thing is, I had planned to wear this dress for work – with sensible sandals, maryjane pumps or my DVF ‘Rimini’ coral lace-ups, for an after-5 look. As we all know, with online shopping; you never quite know what you’ve ordered, till it arrives. Such was the case when my bright dress arrived; at about 3 inches shorter than my other DVF wrap dresses. Hmmm, now what?
After some thought; I let go of the idea of “work dress”, and decided to style this shorter style wrap dress up as a casual dress – for everyday.
With flat sandals, the dress went from career or cocktail; to lunch with girlfriends. Feeling daring, I grabbed my zebra print Michael Kors tote,
and piled on the gold – voila!
STYLE TIP: When mixing up patterns like this zebra tote, and wildly colorful dress; I look for a common color. The dress is actually grounded in brown (not black) as is the tote, making them harmonious together. Note: my sandals are the same tone as the handle on the tote bag. As far as jewelry, keep it simple – layering on what you like; keep it clean, in the same tone – to not confuse things, with all the pattern that is going on. Since my shoes and bag both have gold hardware; I went with gold jewelry.
I felt colorful and happy; wrapped-up in this dress. So much so, I wore it twice in one week!
