What I Wore September – A Month of Denim Outfit Ideas

I don’t know about you, but when it comes to pulling outfits together, September is always a challenging month for me. Magazines are screaming fall; everything is new, from color to styling – yet, the weather, at least in these parts is behaving like summer.

September, is a month, where I focus on cleaning out my closet; keeping wear-now pieces up front and center. I pack up true “summer” pieces, (think what you wore on vacation, to the beach or lake) because I know my next true summer vacation will be just that – next summer. I bring out my transitional fall pieces, and clear out items I know I will not wear – ever! For more tips on closet editing, check out this ASB post HERE.

I love denim. I wear it for work and play. When temps start to cool, I get excited about wearing denim – it becomes my go-to. A key piece in my closet, denim pieces are where I invest my shopping dollars – for great fit, comfort, long lasting styles.

At the beginning of each month, I like to look back and share what I wore the month prior, as I know it’s easy it is to get stuck in a rut. I look to fellow fashion bloggers and Instagram for outfit ideas on a regular basis. I hope though sharing what I wore, I can provide some daily inspiration, for you all as well.

Today, I am sharing my usual monthly recap of outfits via my @AskSuzanneBell Instagram feed (my junior photographers are back in school, so I have a few less photos than I had during the summer months), with a focus on denim looks. Looking to replace some of your denim?

Nordstrom is price-matching this weekend on loads of denim styles. Pop over and search by brand or style, many of F15 styles are currently on promo! I also noticed some great sweaters, ponchos, wraps, booties and boots (including Uggs!), on promo as well.

A quick update on Adam Lippes for Target:

If you have not checked out Adam Lippes over at Target, you may want to take a peek. I just received the long sweater vest (lower left) in the mail tonight. I have to say, at $39.99 it is pretty fantastic! It’s a heavy cotton and I can’t believe it is under $40.00. It does run a bit large and if there were XS available, I would size down for sure.  I also quickly tried on the poncho (top left) and cowl neck sweater (top right). Here’s the deal; the colors, fabric, and styling are spot on and look more expensive than they are. If you have broad shoulders and are tall, these pieces are fantastic. For me, my upper body is more petite and between the large pattern and generous fit, I felt the garments were “wearing me”. Such a bummer, as I really loved the execution of this line. At the moment, I plan to keep the long sleeveless cardigan and belt it, as shown in the photo. Being open in the front, and adjustable, I can work with it to fit my frame.
