Welcome to What I Wore This Week, where you’ll find a compilation of five outfits I wore over of the past week. Look, I certainly don’t have it all figured out, but I hope by sharing what I’ve pulled together, you’ll find some inspiration to create a few fresh new looks – a jumpstart to your own outfit planning. Most items are from pieces found in my closet, but if a piece is current or I find a similar version of what I’m wearing I will link it for you. For more looks and outfit ideas, visit the What I Wore Section here on the blog or link directly (HERE).
Saturday
Hosting an Open House involves standing for long periods of time, making comfort and removable layers key. Today’s easy professional look features a pull on gingham pant by Ruby Ribbon, a sleeveless white poplin DVF blouse (similar Nordstrom Rack | HERE), a knit blazer by Theory and you know it, my go-to silver Vince Mules (on sale HERE) and in Snake (on sale at Bloomingdales | HERE). What I love about this wrap blouse is it covers many a problem area with its brilliant wrapping and can be worn with so many different bottoms.
Now can we talk about the fabulous chandelier in photo #2? Want to see more? I invite you to take a tour of this fabulous San Carlos home which features panoramic views, an in-home movie theater and so much more on our Real Estate Website; RickandSuzanneBell.com | HERE.
Sunday
Clown Pants. And thank goodness they’re Rent the Runway because I am so ready to send these BACK! Yes, I could have swapped them out during the 48-hour window, but they arrived while I was out of town for 5 days, and by the time I tried them on, it was too late for an exchange! This high waisted bold pant would be FABULOUS on an hourglass shape, but as you can see, they are shapeless on my rectangle body. I have managed to style them 3 different ways, and I would say this bathroom selfie is my favorite. The long black cardigan skims my hips and the black belt gives me a bit of a waist. Waist belts are tricky for me, but this one works as the belt is the same color as the cardigan, therefore it doesn’t cut me in half. The second photo is a hot mess as I didn’t realize my black tank was actually a layering piece from the winter, and the way it clings to the girls and everything else, it’s not my best look. The crochet cardigan is a miss as well – way too much going on. I share the second photo with you so you can see even us bloggers get it way off many a time!
Tuesday
As a co-host and presenter at the Sip + Shop styling event this past Tuesday (more on this fabulous event in another post!), I opted for a little 70’s vibe in a pair of very wide leg flares from Free People (reviewed and linked in April Favorites | HERE) paired with a creamy white silk boho blouse from Joie (similar HERE ) and topped off with a faux suede vest from Gitane Boutique Los Altos (similar on sale at Last Call HERE| also in black). My snake pointed toe mule is peeking out of the hem while the rest of my accessories are simple: gold bangles (5 total), gold rings and gold hoops.
Style Tip: when wearing flares, bell bottoms or boot cut jeans; it’s key that the hem grazes the floor. The idea behind a flare or boot cut hem is to elongate the leg – so floods are not an option! If you can pull it off, especially the petite gals out there, opt for a mid or high waist for an illusion of height.
Wednesday
It must be Free People week! My harem jumpsuit is by Free People Beach and let me tell you, I could wear it all day – every day! It is low cut, but a black bralette solves that issue (similar HERE). Add some fun espadrilles or in my case cork wedges, some gold jewelry and a crossbody bag and off you go! Cool and comfortable all day long!
Thursday
These skinny jeans from Mother Denim are a favorite of mine for running around town, paired today with a Free People boho blouse, but wait, it’s actually a DRESS !!! Here’s a look at the dress worn as a tunic as well as a top, thanks to a hair tie!
