If you follow along on Instagram; you know I returned last week, from 8 glorious nights on the island of Kauai. Long days spent on the beach, fabulous food, packed in with loads of fun family time – can I go back tomorrow?
Any trip to the Islands, requires very little in the line of what to pack. For a week, one only needs 4-5 breezy sundresses (if you can wear them braless even better – it’s so humid), 2-3 swimsuits (they take forever to dry in the humidity), a couple of cover-ups, flip-flops, a pair of sandals, a kimono or wrap for windy evenings, 1-2 hats, beach bag, sunnies and sunscreen. Done.
Did I take my own advice? No!
Did I overpack? Of course!
Having worn a third of what I brought, here’s a look at a few of my favorite outfits:
Poolside, this cold shoulder cover-up by Becca Swim, was the best.
Nordstrom (sold out), exact HERE | Eric Javits Fedora, HERE
Easy to throw on and off; it dries in a flash. I always pack a wide brim sun hat; plus a fedora, on any trip that involves time in the sun.
Polarized sunnies are a must; my Maui Jim ‘Pilot’ aviators were my go-to.
A party in the back, I paired this BCBG printed sheath,
with my straw tote from Anthropologie (reviewed HERE), and simple gold accessories.
Perfect for cocktails on the patio, and dinner to follow.
I only needed one pair of sandals (the rest could have stayed home); my Michael Kors toe ring sandals matched everything.

Style Tip: when shopping for a nude sandal; look for one that matches your skin tone – it will go with just about everything!
Worn here with all white.
Lilly Pulitzer for Target white kimono | Cloth and Stone white slip dress (older style) | Kendra Scott Rose Gold Pendant
As well as with this fun cold shoulder dress,
Flying Tomato dress; found in a small boutique in Hanalei (read more HERE)
My favorite look?
Foley and Corinna (older style). Similar idea HERE |HERE
This lightweight silk maxi dress was perfect for evenings at the beach, and dinner.
I love the backside of this dress.
With built in support, no bra is necessary; which is great in the humidity.
Notice the sandals; they really went everywhere!
The sun was going down, as my son shot these photos;
the perfect end, to another gorgeous island day!
Do you tend to over pack, when going on vacation?
When heading somewhere humid; dresses or shorts?
Do you switch up your style when on vacation; i.e.: dress in all white for a change?
How do you stay cool, in the humid summer weather?
If you haven’t checked out Anthro, the extra 25% is still on! My picks from the weekend are HERE.
Great to see you here, and thanks for stopping by!
XOXO

Thanks for the packing tips!!
Sure Susan! I hope they were helpful! Now I need to take a bit of my own advice and I’d be good to go! xx
Soo JEALOUS YOU WERE IN KAUI! AND NO WORRIES, IT’S BASICALLY REQUIRED THAT YOU OVERPACK WHEN YOU GO TO HAWAII. AT LEAST THAT’S WHAT I TELL MYSELF ANYTIME I GO SOMEWHERE LONG DISTANCE. WHOOPS. I LOVE YOUR OUTFITS AND IT LOOKS SO STUNNING THERE!
