This past weekend was spent in Carmel, CA with family, celebrating the 50th wedding Anniversary of my in-laws. That’s right, 50 years – now that’s something to celebrate!
Whohoo!
We were blessed with gorgeous weather for walking, taking in the refreshing sea air and relaxing.
A view of the sea, seen thru one, of many, beautiful cypress trees along the coastline.
Saturday evening, after wine by the pool, we headed over to one of our favorite restaurants, Casanova.
Darling, inside and out.

Yes, that is a tree – smack in the middle of the open air patio!
If you have never eaten at Casanova, be sure to stop by, on your next visit to Carmel – the homemade gnocchi is to die for, and the wine list fantastic!

Before heading out to dinner, my son was helpful in taking a few photos, in what I wore. I wanted to share how I wore my Brochu Walker sweater wrap, which I previously reviewed HERE – came together.
Carmel is super dog friendly, so of course precious Zoey, came along with us.

One Size, also available in black HERE
I went back and forth between camel and black on this one, but since I find it difficult to find a deep camel color I like, and this one was a gorgeous color – I went with the camel. That said, the black would go with everything.
Easy to wear, it’s like a wrap with arms – so it stays put. The wider cuff, allows for one to wear full blouses, without having them get all wrinkled under a tight arm sleeve. I also like the shorter bracelet sleeve – to show off some fun arm candy!
Like most coastal towns, temperatures drop dramatically, as soon as the sun goes down. I was happy I threw my Boden ‘Helena’ plaid cape, into the suitcase at the last minute, as it kept me warm and cozy all evening.
The truth is, this cape almost went back to London with a return label attached to Boden.
Why? I received it at the end of September, when temps in these parts were between 80-100 degrees, with no cool weather in-site. This is NOT a lightweight piece. It’s wool, beautifully constructed and heavy – all in a good way. It works best over sweaters, as an outerwear piece – it’s like being wrapped up in a beautiful, cozy blanket. Those British know what cold winters are all about, and how to dress for them. Once I got over thinking it was an accessory, and instead a piece of outerwear, it became a keeper – an alternative to a coat.
I wish I had more photos of the cape to share, as the back is very elegant, in how it drapes.
But, as you can see, the lighting was not cooperating this evening – these are the best of the photos we took. I’ll be sure to share more, the next time I wear this cape – so you can catch all the details.
Here’s a shot from the Boden catalog, to view it at all angles:

I did order the Westminster Belt in Navy, to wear with it, as in the photo above – twice. The second belt is on it’s way, in one size larger as this belt ran small for me. I ordered this belt to go with my cape, as I found the belts I owned, were either too wide or too skinny to work with this piece. Since I am short waisted, contrasting belts cut me right in half. The navy I found blended in well with my cape – giving a seamless silhouette.

I really like the sweater wrap – arms are so helpful! And the color is beautiful and looks great on you!
And the Boden cape is gorgeous! Sounds like it’ll be perfect once it cools down a bit more around here!
Carmel is such a nice place; we’ll have to check out Casanova the next time we are there!
Have a great weekend!
Hi Andrea! Thank you for stopping by! I have to say, the arms are so helpful – especially since I have really narrow shoulders and everything slips off them! I do love Casanova and it is also dog friendly , out on the patio, if you have a furry friend with you. I just popped over to your blog, loved your roundup of outfits – especially the red tunic and your latest scarf purchase. Oh, and that necklace – fabulous! Have a fun weekend! XO
